The CAL is open Thursday and Friday from 8 am to 4 pm if you need to cool off.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in conjunction with the Agency Meteorologist are forecasting oppressive heat and humidity for late this week. A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11AM Thursday to 8PM Friday for much of the Commonwealth excluding the Berkshires, South Coast, and the Cape/Islands. The Heat Advisory is likely to be extended into Saturday for at least portions of the Commonwealth as the heat and humidity persists. Temperature highs will range between 90-95°F with heat indices between 95°F to 104°F. No significant relief is anticipated with evening and overnight lows expected between 70-77 °F.

In addition to the heat, scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are expected Thursday as a weak wave of low-pressure crosses through the region. Storm activity is expected mainly between 2-10PM where damaging wind gusts could potentially occur. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out albeit the risk is low. Given the over saturated grounds from recent abundant rainfall this month, any slow-moving storms can produce flash flooding.

The extended forecast calls for the oppressive heat to break sometime late on Saturday. Additional scattered thunderstorms are possible late Saturday as a cold front crosses the region, relieving the hot and humid conditions for Sunday. Sunday is expected to be drier, cooler, and seasonable.
