The Village of Tarrytown is hosting its annual Independence Day fireworks, featuring a special display to celebrate America's 250th anniversary! Fireworks are set to begin at dark and will be launched from a barge on the river. The day will kick off with Live Jazz taking the stage at 1:00pm, food trucks will begin at 5:00pm and KickStart Charlie will start at 7:30pm, with a Kids Fun Zone in between.
TAKE THE TRAIN AND AVOID TRAFFIC!
It is STRONGLY recommended that you take the train into Tarrytown due to expected HEAVY traffic with thousands of spectators. Please check the MTA Metro North schedules here. Once the H-bridge closes down which will be approximately 6:30pm (or earlier if the lots fill up), cars will NOT be permitted to exit until the H-bridge opens again. The estimated time of reopening is between 10:30pm - 11:00pm, contingent upon pedestrian traffic clearing up after the fireworks conclude.
If you live within walking distance, it is highly recommended that you walk to the park. If visiting from outside of Tarrytown, taking the train is the best way to get to Pierson Park due to limited parking and traffic congestion in the immediate area. Vehicular access to our riverfront will be limited from approximately 6:00pm through the conclusion of the fireworks display.
Please note that there is a scheduled Yankee game that night too and parking will be even more limited. Please be sure to follow all posted parking regulations.
In the event of rain, we will only be postponing the fireworks display if there are unsafe thunder and lightning conditions at the time of expected launch. Please check the Village homepage if there are any questions.
PRE-FIREWORKS EVENTS
From your Harbor Master, Kevin Lustik: At approximately 7:30pm, the Washington Irving Boat Club Volunteers will appear in the Tarrytown Harbor in a workboat dressed as a English Revolutionary warship armed with a presentation cannon that will fire blank 10 gauge shells. It will fire their Cannon at an American ship, with infantryman firing back at them with replica non firing rifles. A Capture of the English boat will conclude the event. The enemy vessel will fly the Union Jack and the American vessel will fly the 13 star flag that was approved in 1777. Be sure to turn your eyes to the harbor!
