It's ALL His!
There is a certain freedom that comes from fully understanding this verse, and the freedom starts when we realize everything means everything. Not just what we see other people clinging to, but what we cling to ourselves.
That mountain in the background is Mt. Hood. Mt. Hood belongs to the Lord.
About midway in the photo is Mt. Tabor. There are several cemeteries there, and they belong to the Lord.
If you could see clearly and in detail, just below one of the cemeteries is the Clackamas Center Mall, with a Sears store, a Gap, a movie complex, and a whole bunch of other stores. And they all belong to the Lord.
To the right you see a church steeple, and it belongs to the Lord.
Streets and highways hidden by trees, which belong to the Lord are paved with cement dredged from the Willamette River, which belongs to the Lord. The office buildings, the offices, the computers, the desks and the chairs - YOUR CHAIR - ALL belong to the Lord.
Can we ever begin to grasp what this means to us? How many wars, how many injuries and slights, have been caused by people fighting for what belongs to the Lord? When we lay hold of this - that everything we hold dear, everything we covet, everything we need or want - belongs to God, it frees us. It truly does!
