Hebron Pulpit Committee Update
Thank you to all of those that took the time to make nominations for the Hebron Pulpit Committee. In total, we had 39 people nominated! This is great and speaks to how dedicated the people of Hebron are to what God is doing in the life of your campus. Obviously, we could not move forward with a committee of 39 people. Though it was a tall task, we have landed on a team of six that will now begin identifying the next leader of the Hebron Campus. Allow me to introduce the Hebron Pulpit Committee:

I have been a member of Lakeside Christian Church for over 20 years. My family and I have been members of Lakeside Christian Church since I was 15 years old, and we felt led to go and help launch Hebron; we’ve been there ever since. First and foremost, I love the people and community we have at Hebron. It’s been a joy and honor to serve and do life alongside the people at Hebron. I love to corporately worship and have been blessed to be a part of the worship team at both campuses. My new love is leading a community group and Women’s Bible study at Hebron on Tuesday nights. Lakeside and Hebron are so intentional about discipleship and fellowship, which has paved the way for our group. Getting to know a group of fellow believers, spending time together in God’s Word, being transparent in a safe space, and loving on one another have changed my life. THIS is the heart of God’s church at Hebron…human hearts that have felt the raw, powerful touch of a loving God and collectively want to know more and be more like Him in the world around us.

Kortni, her family, husband Chris, and three daughters have been attending Lakeside Hebron for the past nine years. She was part of the Hebron Campus launch team, serving as Children's Director for four years. Over the years, she has volunteered in various capacities within women's, student, and children's ministries. She loves the people of Hebron and the lifelong friendships her family has made here. She is honored to be part of a team to (once again) launch Hebron and is praying God will bless our community with another incredible pastor and leader.

I grew up in Jackson, Michigan, but I am not a University of Michigan fan; Go Green! I moved to NKY in 2007 and married my beautiful and talented wife, Alisa, in 2008.
Alisa works as an educator for Boone County Schools, and I work for the city of Newport Fire Department. We have two incredible kids and have lived in Hebron since 2013. We’ve been attending the Hebron campus since the doors opened. I currently serve our youth as a high school ministry leader. I have enjoyed sharing my life experiences with our youth, some good and some not-so-good. If you are looking to serve, I recommend serving our youth. Our kids need us as spiritual leaders more than ever! In the past, I have also served on our safety team. I was able to use my God-given skills to provide CPR training for our staff and volunteers. I am excited about what God has planned for our church and community. I encourage you to pray for our church and church leaders as we navigate through this process.

Bob and Zan Burkhardt have three sons ages 26, 28, and 30, three lovely daughters-in-law, and the best grandson ever! Thirty-five years ago, on their honeymoon, they visited Lakeside. They had married on a Saturday and were looking for a large, anonymous place to worship together on their first Sunday together. Zan forgot to bring a change of clothes and actually wore her wedding dress to church!
They moved to Northern Kentucky five years later and immediately became Lakeside members. Seven years ago, they moved to the Hebron location to worship, support, and serve. It’s been 30 years now with this wonderful church family across both locations.
As an Elder, Bob believes every member brings unique spiritual gifts to the church body. He trusts God will use his to help Lakeside grow in love for God and love for others.

My husband Chris and I live in Hebron and have three grown children, Tim, Stephen, and Rebecca. I am originally from Wisconsin and moved to this area after attending Cedarville Univ. I am a 4th-grade teacher at North Pointe Elem. I attend the weekly woman’s Bible study and have enjoyed getting to know more people at Lakeside Hebron through this group and Thursday night prayer meetings. Chris and I will be leading a small group Bible study in the Fall. Our family also volunteers in various ways in the church. Chris organizes the weekly communion servers, Rebecca helps with the youth group, Stephen helps with the youth group, and plays in the worship band. I began following Christ at age 10 and am continually amazed at God’s timing and work in my life and my family’s. My family moved to Hebron in 1999 because Chris became the band director at Conner High School. We started attending Hebron Lakeside Fall of 2015. Stephen first began attending the youth group and loved it. We decided to visit as a family and liked the Biblical-based preaching Lakeside offered. We are excited about Lakeside’s future and the impact it can have on God’s kingdom in the Hebron community.

Travis Whalen
Travis came to Lakeside in 2003 as a student ministry intern. After doing mission work in Northern Ireland, coming back stateside, getting married, and having a couple of kids he returned to LCC in 2015 as the Next Gen Minister. In 2021 he became our Lead Pastor, having helped navigate the changes in how “church” changed during covid. Through prayer and study, Travis came to believe God has been drawing us back to simple elements of our faith in order to launch forward as two churches who work together to launch other churches. Travis is excited about being able to play a small role in helping to identify the person that will lead Hebron into the future. Travis and his wife Natalie have two children, one massive dog, and a new dachshund puppy.

This team will meet on a regular basis to find and interview candidates for the Hebron Lead Pastor position. Please join us in praying over the process and the candidates that God will bring us. We will be providing regular updates along the way and will do our best to keep the Hebron congregation as informed as possible. If at any time you have questions, please feel free to let us know!
