We are a tuition free, open enrollment charter school launching in the fall of 2021 with 120 6th grade students. Our founding students will be a very special group as they will set the foundation for our k-12 Aviation Academy and be the first class to graduate from our one of a kind school located on the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport in 2028.

Principal's Message

Dear Aviator Families and Community,

It was so exciting to see all of you that attended our October 29th Information Session. For any of you that planned to come, but did not make it, join us for our next Parent & Community Information session on November 10, 2020. I want to graciously remind you that we have limited seating for 120 rising 6th graders for next school year; so don’t hesitate to fill out your application submission forms at enrollbr.org as soon as possible to ensure you have a spot.

Furthermore, be safe in this holiday season. It is one of the most exciting times of the year, and we all deserve an opportunity to engage with our families and friends. Just remember to take extra precautions and follow CDC safety guidelines as well as CDC Holiday Tips .

We want to first share our Vision and Mission because they define our approach to education as well as describe our desired future outcome for our students.

Vision: The vision of Helix Aviation Academy is to empower scholars to become young adults who take an innovative approach to problem solving and thrive in competitive aviation and cyber technology careers.

Mission: Helix Aviation Academy prepares all students for achievement in college, career, and a life of opportunity and choice through a deep understanding of the limitless world of aviation, including flight, aeronautical engineering, aircraft technology, and cyber technology.

Spotlight

Lt Col Jerry Brandon (ret.),

Director of Aviation at Helix Aviation Academy

Lt Col Brandon is our Director of Aviation and brings with him a wealth of knowledge.

24 yrs of military service

5 yrs instructing cadets on Air Force heritage and traditions, applied flight science, military aerospace policies and space exploration

Committed to bringing the world of aviation to students who otherwise wouldn’t get the opportunity to participate in an aviation program of this distinction

Community Outreach

On October 31st, Helix Aviation Academy along with the entire Helix Community schools family, had the opportunity to engage community members with Boo! with the Krewe parade and festival sponsored by Phi Gamma Sigma Youth Sorority and Metro Councilwoman Chauna Banks.

We truly enjoyed a socially distanced and safe way to get the word out about the amazing things we will have in store for rising 6th grade students.

AT HAA, we pride ourselves in placing a strong focus on all of the aspects that enable success - not just academics.
