Our Vision and Mission
Helix Aviation Academy School Values
Our school values, our vision, and our mission underpin all that we do at HAA.

Our values help shape the mindsets and behavior of staff and students; so, their importance shouldn’t be underestimated. There’s a lot you can do to build character through school values.
Innovation is one of our values.
We embrace challenges and are not afraid of going after more complex solutions.
Our Next School Value:
Aviation Spotlight
First All-Female African American Flight Crew
On February 12th, 2009, Captain Rachelle Jones, First Officer Stephanie Grant, Flight Attendants Robin Rogers, and Diana Galloway operated flight 5202 to Nashville, TN right into the history books by being the first All-Female African-American flight crew in the United States.

Helix Aviation Academy Partners
Helix Aviation Academy is excited about the opportunities allotted to students through partnering with BRCC.
In high school, students will have the opportunity to take dual enrollment courses that can lead to an Associate of Applied Science degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology.

Curriculum Spotlight:
Enrichment Classes
Our enrichment program at HAA will be centered around STEAM- Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. It will give students the opportunity to try new and exciting things.  It gives them a chance to branch out and learn about things they may not have considered before.  Our students will use this exposure to develop unique interests which will allow them to see exactly what they are most interested in. We believe it’s hard for students to have a real opportunity for choice if they are not exposed to many new things at an early age. Sometimes, it will be challenging because challenge brings about growth, but most of all it, will be fun and engaging.
Community and Culture
School Design Session
for HAA Families
On Monday, March 15th from 6 pm to 7:15 pm, there will be a School Design Session for Helix Aviation Academy families. We would also love for our families to bring at least one other friend or family member that may be interested in HAA for their current 5th graders.

We will share unique aspects about our school, and open the floor to hear from families and community members on their thoughts about our current plans. Our hope is to create a community design school in which families and all stakeholders offer feedback, suggestions, and support to build a quality educational program that ensures access to opportunity for all.
We will provide appetizers for all attendees.

We ask that you register with the number of people that will attend so that we can prepare our space in order to be as COVID safe as possible.

There is also a virtual option. If you would prefer the virtual option, please select virtual when you register.

Let The Fun Begin!!!
Fewer than 1 percent of airline pilots in the United States are Black women, according to Sisters of the Skies (SOS), a professional organization of Black women pilots founded in 2018. (Women make up around 7 percent of U.S. pilots, according to the FAA.) In total, fewer than 150 Black women hold any type of pilot license in the United States, according to SOS.

Great Habits of Successful Pilots
Great pilots use strong verbal communication skills to convey information clearly, effectively, and concisely. Pilots must be able to remain calm and collected, especially in emergency situations. Even when the unexpected occurs, good pilots are able to think clearly and stay focused.
Virtual Learning Parental Tips
Communication between teachers, students, and parents can make a world of difference.
5 Remote Teaching Tips from an Online Teacher
Engagement is (Still) Everything

Whether you’re assigning non-digital work, teaching live, or sending recordings to accommodate asynchronous learning, student engagement remains one of the highest priorities for online teachers.

Engagement in learning, after all, which is why it tops the list of remote teaching tips.

“If your students aren’t engaged, they will literally walk away,” Kimberly Palocsay, a virtual teacher in Ohio, says. “You can’t stand closer to distracted students. You can’t get their attention with the same techniques you use in the classroom.”

Coping with COVID-19

From Helix Aviation Academy and the World Health Organization, here are just a few reminders for this season and how to make sure you and your loved ones stay KIND to one another.
