Epic Updates

Updates to Medications After Discharge Medication Reconciliation Is Complete

  • IMPORTANT! If you have completed discharge medication reconciliation and you prescribed a new medication(s) or changed the discharge medication order(s), you may need to repeat the discharge medication reconciliation process.
  • If discharge medication reconciliation has been completed and you want to give the patient a medication while they are still on the floor, click Don't Prescribe At Discharge.
  • This will avoid re-reconciling, as you are adding a one-time inpatient medication during the current admission.
  • If you click Reconcile After Signing, you will be taken to discharge medication reconciliation to reconcile that one new order only.
  • If reconciliation is required again, the provider needs to inform the nurse, so the correct After Visit Summary (AVS) can be provided to the patient

Continuing 'One System, One Family' Laboratory Service Line Reminder

In alignment with 'One System, One Family,' a Laboratory Service Line change went into effect last August:

  • Click to review the full Laboratory Service-Line communication.
  • Please remember to send all laboratory orders to LabCorp for labs collected in your ambulatory office.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: Setting a patient preferred lab will override the default of LabCorp as the reference lab.

Please see the template below for guidance on location and resulting agency default information:

  • For those affected, the hospital lab location is the correct selection only when the patient is having labs collected within the hospital.
  • Patients may still choose any laboratory provider other than LabCorp. If they do, the patient should be sent to that laboratory to have their specimen collected.
  • For those affected, in Epic, if you have set up the hospital lab as a favorite for your patients, you must update to another resulting agency instead.
  •  The hospital satellite labs are the LabCorp drawing stations.
  • Please open a ServiceNow ticket if you need help updating favorites or have questions about the updated workflow.

Last Chance! MUSE NX Training is Recommended for Providers

  • A one-hour, remote training for providers is encouraged to learn how to view and result EKG and Stress Studies via MUSE web functionality while in Hyperspace.

Exciting Inpatient MyChart E-Consent Update!

  • Once a performing provider signs their portion of an e-consent, they can push the consent to the patient's MyChart for the patient/designee signature.
  • This is especially helpful when a provider needs to obtain patient consent via telehealth or over the telephone.

Click here to review the new Sending E-Consents to Patient's MyChart Tip Sheet.

  • Look for the green checkmark on Storyboard to see if a patient has an active MyChart Account and is able to complete e-signatures of their consents via MyChart.
  • Patients with an inactive MyChart Account will have this icon on their Storyboard.

  • Please promote MyChart to your patients.

When the performing provider attempts to push the e-Consent document to a patient's inactive MyChart, the e-Consent appears like this:
