Happy spring from Taiwan, everyone!

After almost two and a half months, I am wrapping up a fun and restful trip in Taiwan. How have you been?

As always, my stay here with my parents continues to be the best 'Artist In Residence' with catered meals by mom and rides from dad.

They sure make it hard for me to leave!

It's been another heart and soul fulfilling trip.

Often times I'd find myself in awe of the beauty and wonder that resides on this tiny island.

Some of the highlights include waking up at 4am to catch the sunrise on Alishan Mountain Range over the tallest peak in Taiwan, Yushan with my little nephew and cousins.

I was moved and pleased to have shared this experience with them. And now, with you.

I got to go on plenty of fantastical hikes with my family on this trip.

As you can imagine, we were often accompanied by mountain gods and forest sprites along the way. Good to know they're looking after us!

And then all the sudden BLOOM! Spring arrived!

We were greeted with an abundance of cherry blossoms in nearby parks and up on hillsides where we took pleasure in 'hanami' meaning flower viewing.

Local residents joined us in celebrating seasonal festivities though some were more enthusiastic than others... :)

Let's make some art!

Unlike prior years when I had gallery shows in Taiwan, I decided to take time to rest and to make art purely for enjoyment on this trip.

It felt really nice!

Once again, my mom's mahjong room was transformed into my temporary studio where I got to sketch, paint and drink lots of coffee.

It's amazing how enjoyable it is to make art when enough food, time and space has been provided.

Please excuse my messy desk!

Inspiration bloomed as Messenger of Spring, forest guardians, and cherry blossom sprites emerged in watercolors...

while sakura dreamers and forest bathing cats transformed into collectible figures!

Good news! All new work has been posted to my online store.

On these last few days of my stay here in Taiwan, I am filled with tremendous love and gratitude for my parents and family.

As some of you might've heard, we experienced the biggest earthquake in 25 years a few days ago. I was at home with mom and dad as our place kept on shaking for almost 60 seconds.

It was a terrifying experience and I am incredibly thankful for the safety of our family.

Much love and many thanks to those of you who emailed and messaged to check in on me. I truly appreciate your friendship and support.

Love received and back at ya!

Sending you joy, warmth and lots of blossoms.

I hope to see you soon!

With love and gratitude,

Martin
