The aspiration for models could high and unrealistic, just as for designers when the piece defies practical use. Affordability is a consideration.
We do things differently and, most of all, we value those who model with us for a minute, day, month, or year. We care for their holistic success in the creative industry. Daring may be success itself and the social emotional intelligence to know boundaries is a key factor.
Jah Kente International Fashion House was inspired by youths in the Jah Kente International 2021 Mayor Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program and youths in our Fashion and Cosmetology Program. We have a full curriculum. It is not just about money. The welfare of those in the Fashion industry is our bottom-line.
In the realm of fashion, arguably, Washington, DC is yet to claim a mantle among the greatest, which comes with a pervasive sense of style, including among middle to low-income residents. When the couture is out of reach in terms of cost to a large segment of the population, it is restrictive.
In gratitude for the grace and time, choosing to model for Jah Kente International Fashion House at the DC Fashion Week on February 26, 2023, the organization is organizing the Pre-Launching of the Washington Fashion Society on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 5:30 pm-8:30pm and in their honor.
