Celebrating One Year in our New Home!

What a first year we have had in our new building at 2895 W. Grand River Ave. in Howell! While we certainly appreciate the obvious benefits—such as sufficient office, conference, and storage space, additional restrooms, expanded space for our Adult Day programming including a beautiful courtyard, and ADA-compliant hallways—the greatest advantage has been bringing all of our programs together under one roof. This has strengthened collaboration among our staff, made it easier for clients to access multiple services in one location, and provided room for future growth as we continue to meet the needs of our community.

In our previous location, our programs were spread across three separate buildings. Having everyone together has created a more connected and efficient environment for both staff and those we serve. Having Be Our Guest Adult Day attached to our main offices has made daily operations more convenient for staff while giving our Guests a brighter, more welcoming space to enjoy. They now have larger activity areas, a beautiful patio where they can spend time outdoors and enjoy nature, additional restrooms, and expanded office space that allows our team to better support their needs.

As we reflect on this exciting first year, we are grateful for the on-going generosity of our supporters, volunteers, and community partners who are continuing to help make this new home possible. This building has become much more than a workplace—it is a place where individuals and families find hope, compassion, and support every day. We look forward to building on this momentum, strengthening our financial future by paying down our debt while remaining steadfast in our mission to serve Livingston County with dignity, respect, and compassionate care.

SUMMER CELEBRATION & PICNIC

WHEN: Thursday, August 20, 2026

WHERE: Holy Spirit Parish, Picnic Pavilion

9565 Musch Road, Brighton, MI 48116

TIME: Mass-11am; Picnic Lunch, Music, 50/50, & More at Noon

There is no cost for this activity; however, a goodwill donation will be accepted. We continue our tradition of a Potluck Picnic. Please bring a dish to share: salad, dessert, veggies, etc. As we have done in the past, the Livingston Deanery Catholic Council on Aging will provide sloppy joe’s, paper products, and beverages. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am outside on the hill above the church. 



All of the Livingston Priests are invited to join us for Mass, lunch or both. 

*We will be indoors if the weather is rainy or too hot.

RSVP to your Parish Representative no later than August 13, 2026.

Back-to-School Starts with Mental Wellness

As backpacks are packed and school routines begin, many children experience a mix of emotions. Excitement about seeing friends can exist alongside worries about new teachers, changing schedules, or fitting in. These feelings are a normal part of the transition, and one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is the reassurance that they are loved, heard, and supported.

One simple way to nurture your child's mental well-being is to create opportunities for connection. Instead of asking, "How was school?" the moment they walk through the door, allow them a little time to decompress. Later, try asking open-ended questions like, "What made you smile today?" or "What was the hardest part of your day?" When your child shares something difficult, resist the urge to immediately solve the problem. Instead, respond with empathy: "That sounds really frustrating," or "I'm glad you told me." Feeling understood helps children regulate their emotions and builds trust, making them more likely to come to you when they need support.

Remember that success in school is about much more than grades. Celebrate effort, kindness, perseverance, and the courage to ask for help. Protect time for sleep, play, and family connection, and remind your child often that they don't have to face challenges alone. Even a few minutes of undistracted time together each day can strengthen a child's confidence and resilience.

May this school year be filled with opportunities to grow not only in knowledge, but also in faith, resilience, and the confidence that every child is deeply loved.

Golf Outing Was a Hole in One!

The Livingston County Community Alliance's 9th Annual Charity Golf Outing was a wonderful success! We welcomed 44 golfers across 11 teams for a day of friendly competition, community connection, and support for our mission to build a healthier, drug-free Livingston County.

This event would not have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors and donors. We are grateful to organizations including Livingston County Catholic Charities, Chem-Trend, St. Patrick Catholic Church, and Sheriff Mike Murphy for their sponsorships. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the many businesses that donated raffle prizes, including Jiffy Mix, The Detroit Shop, the Lansing Lugnuts, and many others.

A special thank you goes to Beauchamps and Sheriff Mike Murphy for donating water, Mugg & Bopps for providing soda and ice, and Hungry Howie's for generously supplying pizza for our golfers at the turn.

Thank you to everyone who golfed, volunteered, sponsored, and donated. Your support made this event a tremendous success and helps us continue our prevention efforts throughout Livingston County. Stay tuned for the LCCA's next fundraiser event!
