May is National Foster Care Month
Each year approximately 7,400 children enter foster care for the first time. And on any given day in Michigan, approximately 13,000 children are in foster care or a residential placement due to abuse or neglect. Do you have room in your HEART for one more child?

Livingston County Catholic Charities seeks loving and caring Livingston County residents to become Foster Parents and temporarily open their lives and home to a child in need.

Our amazing, hard-working staff (pictured here) look forward to meeting you and answering your questions.

We would love to hear from you at 517-545-5944 or
LCCC was excited to host the first Salute to the Stars event since 2019! It was a wonderful time of fellowship, great food and fabulous musical entertainment from Denise Davis and the Motor City Sensations!

This year's Star Honorees were Teri and Miguel Cancel, LCCC foster care parents, and Preston Sporer, a volunteer with the Special Ministries program. Rebecca Raether-Hartman shared her inspiring story of recovery with the help of LCCC programs. We were honored to have Representative Ann Bollin present a Proclamation in honor of our late co-worker Megan Palmer.

Thank you to our attendees, donors, sponsors, LCCC Board and staff, Crystal Gardens, Asher Photography, Denise Davis & the Motor City Sensations and volunteers for making this event a success!

Youth Demonstrate Commitment
Join the Livingston County Community Alliance and Youth-Led Advisory Board to watch the We Are The Majority Rally. The rally will be held on May 10th from 6pm-7:30pm at the Howell EMS Building (1911 Tooley Rd, Howell, MI).

We Are The Majority (WATM) Rally began as a way for young people to demonstrate their commitment to living healthy lifestyles free of drug and alcohol misuse. Youth organizers wanted to show adults and other young people that stereotypes depicting teen drug use as normal were not only harmful but untrue. For the last 10 years, thousands of young people from across the state have convened annually on the statehouse steps to show their commitment to a healthy lifestyle, deconstruct the stigma around teen substance misuse, and support one another with like-minded individuals. More details and information coming soon about the May 2022 WATM Rally. Visit for more information and details!

A New Initiative In Livingston County Support Moms in Need
Walking with Moms in Need

The Walking with Moms in Need initiative is driven by the nation-wide United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. St. Patrick Catholic Parish, Brighton has taken up the initiative, working in partnership with the Livingston Vicariate and Livingston County Catholic Charities, to help equip the county churches and their parishioners in raising awareness about resources that provide assistance to pregnant and parenting moms in need.

The St. Patrick Walking with Moms in Need initiative seeks to make each parish in the county a place where moms and their babies are welcomed and supported and where the dignity of every human life is upheld and valued.

Check out the available resources on the Walking with Moms in Need page on our website or contact Michelle at for additional information.
