Same Smiling Face, New Position
We are very excited to share the creation of a new full-time position at LCCC. As the new Senior Outreach Case Manager, Hayley Trombley will be providing outreach, education and much-needed services to the most isolated seniors in Livingston County. Thanks to a generous grant from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund, this position will also provide part-time staffing to the Fowlerville Senior Center, a rural underserved area, to provide health and wellness activities and resources to local seniors.

Hayley has worked at LCCC for just over two years helping in multiple programs while completing her Masters in Social Work at the University of Michigan. She has served seniors at Be Our Guest Adult Day, adults with cognitive disabilities through Special Ministries and families through our Foster Care division. She will continue to coordinate Bible Studies for Special Ministries, but now she is “most excited about getting to serve older adults in this new capacity.”

A member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Hayley grew up in East Macomb and is happy to have settled in Howell. She says, “I feel privileged to help the seniors in the community.”

Here is a NEWSLETTER and CALENDAR for Fowlerville Senior Center activities.
Helping Seniors Live Safely and Independently
Nearly 1/3 of all seniors live by themselves, that is nearly 14 million seniors aging alone.

"Bars seemed intuitive to her in and out and she used the one under window a lot.  So a good selection of bars, and install. THANK YOU!"

LCCC is here to help them with our new Home Injury Control and Chore program! This program will fill a vital need in the community providing seniors with home adaptations to reduce the risk of injury as well as various household maintenance tasks! If you know a senior that is in need of some support please contact LCCC at (517) 545-5944. Learn More.
Basketball FUN-draiser was a SLAM DUNK!
The annual Special Ministries Basketball FUN-draiser was held on February 18 at the Oceola Twp. Community Center. The Special Ministries basketball teams went up against the Livingston County Sheriff's Department and won by 1 point with a final score of 38 to 37!

We are so proud of all our Special Ministries participants! Lisa W. made some great shots, Brandon kicked up the defense and Brett and Jessica really showed AMAZING teamwork! Even Sheriff Mike Murphy was out on the court! Representative Ann Bollin drew the 50/50 winner and the person whose name was drawn generously gave the winnings back. Representative Bollin and Senator Lana Theis cheered us on! Everyone enjoyed the half-time entertainment, games and commentary provided by DJ Preston Sporer.

Special thanks to Connie Conklin, the Executive Director of CMH, and Anita Gibson, the V.P. at Work Skills (Brighton), who coached the Special Ministries team and the entire team of volunteers it took to make this event a success!

Special thanks to our all of our awesome sponsors!
Your Generosity Brings Savings to Seniors
Your donations assisted 122 county seniors to understand and navigate the plans during the recent Medicare Open Enrollment period - a service provided at no cost to the senior.

We often will find that a senior will save anywhere from a few hundred dollars to several thousand after researching the plans that best fit their needs. With over 60% of the seniors we serve living at or below poverty level, your donations help ease their ability to cover their basic needs and live with dignity and independently. This year the biggest monetary savings was $1500 annually by going to a more expensive plan, but eliminating the deductible and going to a company that offered different tiers for their cleint's medication. Another client saved approximately $600 a year by switching from an "in-network" to a "preferred" pharmacy. Thank you for helping to provide for God's vulnerable children!

If you could use assistance with researching or understanding your plan, contact Beth at 517-545-5944.

BOGADS provides a person-centered day that consists of therapeutic recreation, social activities, and helps participants find purpose and meaning in their day. The stimulating club-like setting allows your loved one to participate in activities that bring joy, such as crafts, music, games and puzzles...and no one ever eats alone!

"Thank you all so very much for the wonderful care and compassion you showed to our dad and husband during the progress of his dementia. Not only did you provide necessary respect for us, but you also showed great love and interest in Dad every time he came to the 'club.' He always talked about what a great group of people you were when we got in the car to leave. You made him feel loved and safe, and for that we can’t thank you enough!"
Engagement Groups Save Lives!
The LCCC Substance Abuse Engagement Groups are a well-rounded introduction into the recovery process. Participants learn how to participate in a support group, with a strong mental health aspect, and get help connecting to groups that are close to where they live so they can develop a strong support network.

Two years ago most participants were struggling with alcohol addiction, now, more than a third are dealing with opioid addiction. Since COVID we are also seeing more younger people addicted to opioids. "When you have an addiction, it has control over you, you do not have control over it. It can be heartbreaking to watch; but we are here to serve as a tool in their journey", said Jessica B., Clinical Case Manager.
