LCCC E-Newsletter

Vol. 85, February 2025

Mark your calendar for the Salute to the Stars! This year's event will celebrate LCCC's 40th Anniversary at The Reserve, a beautiful new venue in Pinckney, nestled on 15 private wooded acres with a beautiful new ballroom, outdoor space and exquisite views! The evening will include a delicious meal, cash bar, music, silent auction, guest speaker Pete Burak, honoree presentations, and a live ask. It will be an evening to remember!

We Would Love for YOU to be a Sponsor!

This is our only event fundraiser to support our professional, critical services and programs that serve the entire county with a focus on our county's most vulnerable men, women and children.

Click here to learn more about how to SPONSOR and/or how to donate an AUCTION item! Or you can contact Ryan at 517-545--5944 or Ryan@LivingstonCC.org.

Your Donations MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

You are providing our most vulnerable men, women & children the gift of fulfilling their most basic needs throughout the year!

Your donations assisted 164 county seniors to understand and navigate the plans during the recent Medicare Open Enrollment period - a service provided at no cost to the senior.

The biggest monetary savings for 2024 was $500-$600 annually by either changing from one plan that did not cover a prescribed medication to one that does and from changing from an in-network pharmacy to a preferred pharmacy. For 2025, there are now two prescription plans that are $0 copay and there is a plan that is only $.40 per month premium. LCCC strongly urges every senior that has Medicare, have their plans reviewed every year between October 15 and December 7.

If you could use assistance with researching or understanding your plan, contact Beth at 517-545-5944.

If you have already made your Loaves & Fish gift, Thank You!

Bridging a Critical Gap for Seniors

Aging in place allows seniors to maintain autonomy and dignity. But the challenge of household chores and routine maintenance may force them into care facilities prematurely. Our Home Injury Control and Chore programs are designed to bridge this critical gap.

Providing adaptations to the home environment of an older adult helps to prevent or minimize the occurrence of injuries. Tasks can include installation or maintenance of enhanced lighting, bathroom chairs and grab bars, non-slip treatments, vision or hearing adaptive devices, handrails and smoke and/or carbon monoxide detectors. The Chore program provides non-continuous household maintenance tasks intended to increase the safety of the older adult living at the residence. Learn more...

Volunteer with the Big Red Barrel

The Big Red Barrel Project is an initiative aimed at safely collecting unused or expired medications to prevent misuse and to protect the environment. The Big Red Barrel has been around since 2011 collecting medications not only in Livingston County but around the state of Michigan. The Big Red Barrel Program has collected about 100,000lbs of pills! To make this event a success, we need your help!

Volunteer Opportunities:

●      Event Setup: Help with placing barrels and setting up signage.

●      Collection Assistance: Guide participants and oversee proper disposal.

●      Post-Event Support: Assist with cleanup and logistics.

●      Outreach & Awareness: Spread the word about this program within your networks.
