Medicare Part D Open Enrollment

OPEN ENROLLMENT for Medicare’s Prescription Drug Coverage (Part D) starts 10/15/2024 – 12/7/2024 with coverage starting 1/1/2025. It is important to re-evaluate your current coverage to make sure that you are still in the appropriate plan for your current situation. This is also a good time to see what changes your current plan may have for 2024 (increased premium, medications not covered or have a higher co-pay, etc.)

Some people may qualify for extra help such as lower or no premiums for their prescription coverage and lower co-pays or no co-pays for their medications. Ask your MMAP counselor to see if you qualify.

To schedule an appointment to review your plans or to ask questions, please call Beth at Livingston County Catholic Charities at 517/545-5944 ext. 122.

** IMPORTANT **

Medicare will NEVER call trying to sell you an insurance plan and will NEVER call asking for your Medicare number.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month

Suicidal thoughts, much like mental health conditions, can affect anyone regardless of age, gender or background. In fact, suicide is often the result of an untreated mental health condition. Suicidal thoughts, although common, should not be considered normal and often indicate more serious issues.

Looking for ways to maximize your tax savings and charitable giving? Consider using your IRA.

If you are 70 1/2 yrs of age or older, you can make cash gifts from your IRA to your favorite charity or charities without having to include the IRA distribution in your taxable income. Qualified charitable distributions, also called IRA charitable rollover, allows you to direct part or all of your distribution directly to a charitable organization in an amount up to $100,000 per person per year. The amount of your charitable distribution to a charitable organization is excluded from your gross income and is not subject to taxes. Please discuss this option with your tax or financial adviser prior to making the distribution.
