Successful First 5K Raises Awareness for Elder Abuse Prevention

Livingston County Catholic Charities (LCCC) proudly hosted our inaugural “Stomping Out Elder Abuse One Step at a Time” 5K, organized by the Prevention of Elder Abuse, Neglect & Exploitation Program. Despite threatening skies throughout the morning, 35 runners and walkers took on the challenging course with enthusiasm and determination. Thankfully, the weather cooperated just long enough for participants to complete the 5K, celebrate their accomplishments, and pack up before the rain returned.

This event would not have been possible without the incredible support of our volunteers. From early morning setup to cheering on participants along the course, their dedication and hard work helped make the event run smoothly. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who donated their time and energy—especially those who were up before sunrise to ensure everything was ready to go!

We would also like to recognize our generous sponsors: Compassionate Hospice, our Presenting Sponsor; AgeWays, our Platinum Sponsor; Prime Performance, our Snack Sponsor; and Beauchamps, our Water Station Sponsor. Their support, along with the enthusiasm of our participants and volunteers, made our first 5K a memorable success. We are already looking ahead to next year and exploring ways to make the event even bigger and better. Stay tuned!

Crafting at Special Ministries

Crafts provide vital cognitive, motor, and emotional benefits for individuals with cognitive disabilities. By stimulating different areas of the brain, accessible crafting helps improve memory, attention span, and processing abilities while offering a safe, non-verbal outlet for self-expression. Plus crafting is just good FUN! We do a wide variety of activities at Special Ministries, but crafting is always a crowd pleaser.
