From my perspective as BCSP’s first international Board President, I began this year by encouraging you to “think globally, act locally,” making an impact in your unique environment while recognizing the broader significance of safety worldwide.
Since then, I have urged you to consider the synergy that comes from working together to advance safety practice and the importance of giving back to this noble profession.
As we close out the year, I want to leave you with one more piece of advice—Seek opportunities to recognize the accomplishments of others.
None of us entered the safety profession for accolades. Much of our work happens behind the scenes, ensuring that risks are minimized and lives are protected. This makes it even more important to acknowledge the tireless efforts and valuable contributions we see every day.
Recognizing colleagues and employees brings many benefits, such as:
- Encouraging continued excellence and adherence to safety standards by reinforcing positive behavior.
- Boosting morale by strengthening the team’s spirit and promoting a positive work environment.
- Fostering continuous improvement by encouraging a culture of growth and high achievement.
BCSP offers an avenue for recognition through our Awards of Excellence and Lifetime Achievement Award, given annually to outstanding credential holders. But you can make a habit of it in your own workplace by:
- Highlighting achievements in team meetings or company newsletters.
- Writing personalized notes or offering small rewards.
- Finding creative ways to celebrate successes.
A little recognition can go a long way in motivating and inspiring those around you.
At BCSP, we are fortunate to benefit from the contributions of a diverse group of dedicated safety, health, and environmental professionals—Ambassadors, Emerging Professionals Committee members, exam panelists, mentors, podcast guests, webinar presenters, and more. We deeply appreciate the contributions of these volunteers to expanding our reach and fulfilling our mission.
To our credential holders, thank you for leading the charge for safety in your workplaces. Your efforts make a tangible difference in the world. It has been my honor to serve as your President, and now I am excited to welcome Bruce Hollcroft into this role for the year 2025. With Bruce’s leadership, I am confident BCSP will continue to support you as you uphold the highest standards of safety and excellence.
Together, let’s keep advancing our profession and making the world a safer place by thinking globally and acting locally.

Recognizing Growing Certification Champions
BCSP's Certification Champions program honors organizations that invest in their safety cultures and employees through certification. Champions are recognized by level based on the number of credentials held within their organizations—Sapphire (5-24), Ruby (25-49), Emerald (50-99), and Diamond (100+)—and earn a wide array of benefits. Learn how BCSP can help you grow your safety culture by visiting the Workplace Safety and Certification page at BCSP.ORG.
BCSP is proud to recognize the following organizations that have attained the Ruby level or higher in the Certification Champions program for the first time from October 1 through December 8.
