Stand with Israel

๐Ÿ“บ๏ธ Isaiah 15 ๐Ÿ”Š

1The burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence;

 2He is gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, the high places, to weep: Moab shall howl over Nebo, and over Medeba: on all their heads shall be baldness, and every beard cut off.

 3In their streets they shall gird themselves with sackcloth: on the tops of their houses, and in their streets, every one shall howl, weeping abundantly.

 4And Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh: their voice shall be heard even unto Jahaz: therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out; his life shall be grievous unto him.

 5My heart shall cry out for Moab; his fugitives shall flee unto Zoar, an heifer of three years old: for by the mounting up of Luhith with weeping shall they go it up; for in the way of Horonaim they shall raise up a cry of destruction.

 6For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate: for the hay is withered away, the grass faileth, there is no green thing.

 7Therefore the abundance they have gotten, and that which they have laid up, shall they carry away to the brook of the willows.

 8For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab; the howling thereof unto Eglaim, and the howling thereof unto Beerelim.

 9For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood: for I will bring more upon Dimon, lions upon him that escapeth of Moab, and upon the remnant of the land.

Theme: Words of Judgment (c 1-39)

Message: Prophecy Against Moab (v 1-9)

Isaiah 15 Commentary

(15:1) Moab - Moab was east of the Dead Sea. The Moabites were descendants of Lot through his incestuous relationship with his older daughter (Genesis 19:31-37). Moab had always been Israel's enemy. They oppressed Israel, invaded their land (Judges 3:12-14), and fought against both Saul (1 Samuel 14:47) and David (2 Samuel 8:2, 11-12). Moab would be punished for treating Israel harshly.

(15:5) Loving Our Enemies - Neither God nor Isaiah rejoiced in the destruction of the people of Moab. When you hear of bombings and calamities in other countries, pray for the people, regardless of their location or the politics of their governments. God loves all people, and no human being is beyond the reach of his love and transforming power.

Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Many applications can be made from each day's text. Today, we continue in the Book of Isaiah with Chapter 15. In our text today, we see Prophecy against Moab for its sinful ways and opposition against Israel. In applying, we see how Israel is God's chosen nation, and those who oppose it will see the judgment of the Lord. Today, our nation and others are debating on standing with Israel on political issues. Still, the Lord is clear on those who stand with Israel and those who oppose them. How about you? Do you support Israel? Let us learn from our text today and the Prophecy of Moab to realize that we must stand with Israel as it is God's chosen nation and comes with a blessing for standing with them.
