Jesus Christ, Our High Priest
📽️ Ezekiel 42 🔊

1Then he brought me forth into the utter court, the way toward the north: and he brought me into the chamber that was over against the separate place, and which was before the building toward the north.
2Before the length of an hundred cubits was the north door, and the breadth was fifty cubits.
3Over against the twenty cubits which were for the inner court, and over against the pavement which was for the utter court, was gallery against gallery in three stories.
4And before the chambers was a walk to ten cubits breadth inward, a way of one cubit; and their doors toward the north.
5Now the upper chambers were shorter: for the galleries were higher than these, than the lower, and than the middlemost of the building.
6For they were in three stories, but had not pillars as the pillars of the courts: therefore the building was straitened more than the lowest and the middlemost from the ground.
7And the wall that was without over against the chambers, toward the utter court on the forepart of the chambers, the length thereof was fifty cubits.
8For the length of the chambers that were in the utter court was fifty cubits: and, lo, before the temple were an hundred cubits.
9And from under these chambers was the entry on the east side, as one goeth into them from the utter court.
10The chambers were in the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, over against the separate place, and over against the building.
11And the way before them was like the appearance of the chambers which were toward the north, as long as they, and as broad as they: and all their goings out were both according to their fashions, and according to their doors.
12And according to the doors of the chambers that were toward the south was a door in the head of the way, even the way directly before the wall toward the east, as one entereth into them.
13Then said he unto me, The north chambers and the south chambers, which are before the separate place, they be holy chambers, where the priests that approach unto the LORD shall eat the most holy things: there shall they lay the most holy things, and the meat offering, and the sin offering, and the trespass offering; for the place is holy.
14When the priests enter therein, then shall they not go out of the holy place into the utter court, but there they shall lay their garments wherein they minister; for they are holy; and shall put on other garments, and shall approach to those things which are for the people.
15Now when he had made an end of measuring the inner house, he brought me forth toward the gate whose prospect is toward the east, and measured it round about.
16He measured the east side with the measuring reed, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed round about.
17He measured the north side, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed round about.
18He measured the south side, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed.
19He turned about to the west side, and measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed.
20He measured it by the four sides: it had a wall round about, five hundred reeds long, and five hundred broad, to make a separation between the sanctuary and the profane place.

Ezekiel: Chapter 42 Commentary

(42:1) Ezekiel continues with the descriptions of the temple with the rooms for the Priests. These chambers were many just as Jesus said, In my Father's house are many mansions: in his house on earth there are many; multitudes, by faith, are lodging in his sanctuary, and yet there is room.

(42:14) Approaching our holy God must not be taken lightly. The holy robes the priest were required to wear may symbolize the importance of our hearts when approaching God. The priest had to wear the specific robes in order to minister in the inner rooms of the temple. Because the robes were holy, the priest had to change their clothes before going back out to public.

(42:16-20) The perfect symmetry of Ezekiel’s Temple may represent order and harmony in gods future kingdom.

Today's Scripture Application

Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Many applications can be made from each day's text. Today we continue the Book of Ezekiel with Chapter 42. In our text today we see a continuing description of the temple with an emphasis on the Priesthood noting the holiness of God and the need of the Priest to intercede on sinful mans behalf with the sacrifice offerings. In making application we see that Jesus-Christ is our High Priest, He has made our sacrifice with the finished work on Calvary, and He is our intercessor bringing our petitions to the Father. How about you? Do you see Jesus-Christ as our High Priest? Let us learn from our text today and see that Jesus makes intercession for us before the Father and how He is our High Priest as described by Ezekiel and His account through the prophecy through the rebuilding of the temple

Today's Prayer Requests

  • Anguilla | Good day | Please pray for my Island Anguilla (people and government), my family who is not united, my children, my financial situation, persons who are unemployed, persons affected by the pandemic, the sick, those behind prison bars, schools and by extension our youths.
  • Mark Sheppard |  Lord God . I pray that you heal your lost souls here on earth of our divisions. Please show us a sign that we have more in common with you than what makes us different. I pray for a powerful Jubilee whereupon all debt is forgiven and your children are free from economic slavery. Free the slaves from Human Trafficking and smite those who have profited from that evil practice.
  • Vijay | Pl pray for me an instant financial miracle
  • Anna | Please pray for family unity. My husband is not talking to me, he left me for no reason and is demanding me to go to his place, not compromising too. He is not willing to discuss and is just remaining very stubborn and is showing too much ego. If I go to his home now because he is demanding, I will have no respect and no one earns there. His dad is manipulating him to bring me there for financial benefits. Please pray that my husband should understand that our lives are important. please pray for me please. I called him like 200 times but he never spoke to me. It has been 10 months since we got married. and his dad kept creating issues. His dad is sick but then he is not good at heart, He doesn't want us to live together. All he wants me to do is pay their loans. I pleaded my husband that we should have a baby. But my husband won't understand. He says come here else stay alone. I am requesting him that we'll stay out but he is not even willing to discuss it. Please pray to God that we have to reunite soon. next month is our first wedding anniversary, June 26 and it is also hs birthday. I dont want to separate from him. Please pray that we have to live together and he has to understand that importance of marriage and our life.
