Serving the Lord

📺️ Titus 2 🔊

 1But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

 2That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

 3The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

 4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

 5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

 6Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

 7In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

 8Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

 9Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

 10Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

 11For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

 12Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

 13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

 14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

 15These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Titus 2 Commentary

(2:1-15) Promote Right Teaching - In chapter 1, Paul set the primary goal for Titus’s ministry in Crete: Titus was to teach all the new converts to become “strong in the faith” (1:13). Paul commented on the primary social relationships that were central to the growth of the church in Crete. He did not try to change the system; instead, he sought to change the persons within the systems. Marriages, homes, slavery, and work are all transformed more profoundly from within than from without. Through Titus, Paul was planting seeds of significant change in every facet of life on Crete. But it all depended on the truth of the gospel message.

Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Many applications can be made from each day's text. Today we continue in the book of Titus with Chapter 2 and in our text we see Paul instructing Titus about right living in the Church as the body is instructed to live out their faith in the House of God exampling holiness, good works, and doctrine. In making application we see that we to should be living by faith serving in the House of God to the measure of the Spiritual Gifts our Lord has Given us. How about you? Are you serving the Lord? Let us learn from our text today and the reminder of Paul to example right living in the Church as we serve the Lord, exercising our faith and Spiritual Gifts to others in our Church to worship and glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus-Christ.

Father in the Name and through the Blood of Jesus we pray that we would Take Today's Reading of Your Word and Give Us Understanding of Its Text, that You Apply this Word to Our Lives, and that you would help us grow in You. Father, Finally we Pray for Your Kingdom to come, that Your Will to be Done here on Earth as it is in Heaven. That You would Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil.
