Treating the Echo Pandemic
During April -- recognized as National Child Abuse Prevention Month and Counseling Awareness Month --we reflect on the essential role Springboard’s behavioral health clinicians play in strengthening children and families.
Life amidst the first two years of COVID-19 left us all with a heightened level of stress. The resulting emotional discord from the pandemic is being described as an “echo pandemic.”
Stressors such as remote learning, social isolation, health worries, and economic instability led to an increase in demand for Springboard’s behavioral health services, a greater need for crisis services for individuals and families impacted by abuse, and an urgency to assist youth who are unstably housed or experiencing homelessness.
As we read in the news every day, mental health care – particularly for youth and young adults – is essential and our provision of services is more relevant than ever to address trauma and promote resilience.
We are grateful to Springboard clinicians, case managers, navigators, victim advocates, office administrators, and others who continue to rise up and meet the need each and every day. That level of selflessness and commitment to our clients is paramount to Springboard’s continued success as a dynamic service provider in the Central Maryland region.
