So Swap Meet is in the rear view, and I hope everyone had a great time. Big thanks to Eric Lundt and all of you who stepped up to make it run smooth! It's always a great event and thanks to Sky Valley Chapter for always putting on a fun event the night before!! If you haven't been, you are missing out!
Spring is finally here and that means more time in the saddle for most. Looking forward to our Spring Opener in June. We will be needing volunteers for that event. Reach out to Susan Carson and Phil Snow. They'll find a spot for you. You can even get free admission for next year if you get enough hours in.
WA COC has been working with motorcycle attorney, Mike Myers, on safety issues in their 1st Wednesday Zoom meetings. If you haven't been to one, you should. Rider Safety is important to us all.
BOD is this month, in Bremerton hope to see you there.
Be careful out there, and remember to support all of ABATE of Washington chapter events & the MRF.

I'd like to thank the Black Friday committee for a well put together event that engaged the membership, Legislative Aides (LAs) and Representatives for ABATE of Washington Legislation Day.
I had the honor to do the first ever bell ceremony. Honoring motorcycle riders lost in 2025 in fatality accidents.
I took this on saying, yes before I had a chance to think. It's something I do a lot I've found out. I enjoy volunteering my time to help any of the organizations I belong to. After a few days I started to think about the depth of the bell ceremony and I was glad I said yes.
As the weeks went on and the list of riders and passengers was formed I sat there and stared at that list. There was my brothers good friend and someone I looked up to since childhood and his wonderful wife. There was the son of two amazing people I know. A member of our chapter lost their son and another member of our chapter lost his life during an ABATE ride in 2025. I know and see the grief they all are going through and I couldn't imagine losing my parents or son in the blink of an eye.
I had practiced the speech I had over and over again. I read the names of the people over and over. But the night before the ceremony I thought I'd better get EVERY name pronounced correctly; so I Googled names I struggled with and I wrote down how to pronounce them. I reread my list of people names and felt good about knowing how to pronounce their names. It was more important that practicing my speech because I didn't want to miss pronounce a name.
The next morning we were in Columbia room. It was very electric, people were excited and ramped up, we were all greeting each other, LAs were making flower boutiques, pod cast interviews were going on, members, LA and Representatives were having grab and go breakfast......there was a lot of energy in that room. Someone walked a LA over to me and he wanted to know if his friend was on the list for the bell ceremony. As I pulled out my list of names he immediately pointed his friends name out. It was one of the names I had to learn how to pronounce. I explained that to him and he was deeply touched how important it was for our organization to have his name already and that I took the time to learn how to pronounce it correctly.
EVERY RIDER MATTERS
This is why we are here today. This is why we care about motorcycle riding safety, educating ourselves and others, and why we emphasize how important today is. During the bell ceremony when I called out the names of our fallen riders it made me think of our ABATE members who were injured by drivers negligence and friends I know that were also impacted in this way. As I looked up, I saw your faces and I saw the face of the LA that his friend was on the list of fatalities for 2025. His friends life mattered.
Thirty five names were the list. I hope the list is shorter next year. Ride skillfully, take a refresher safety class, take a trauma first aid class. Keep 2 tires on the road.
Two things I took away from Black Friday 2026.
Get more people involved in our mission.
Be active with our Legislative folks outside of this one day. Go to their events and talk to them about ABATE of Washington and Motorcycle Riders Foundation mission. Let them know that we ride to the highest level to advocate for motorcycle riders.
Peace,
Adalinda Lundt
Deputy Coordinator South King County Chapter
Special thanks to the
American Legion, Renton-Pickering Post 79 and
Chad Magendanz Post Commander and ABATE SKCC member
Chad also rang the bell for us.

Hello Everyone
Remember that April 18th is our next BOD, hosted by North Kitsap at the Cloverleaf in Bremerton, 11AM. Let's make it productive and continue to get ABATE back to doing what we do best, being the champion of motorcycle rights. This is not an easy task and it takes a lot of work by a lot of like minded people...but it's well worth it and no one else is going to do it for us. See you at BOD

Marble Floor Marathon, The Off Season
This should not be a surprise to anyone, but our weight fee bills SB 5309, being carried by Sen. Cortes (D-18) with Sen. MacEwen (R-35) as second seat, and HB 2601, being carried by Rep Richards (D-26) with
Rep Dent (R-13) as second and Rep Simmons (D-23) signing on did not clear the 9 February committee cutoff. We had a good hearing on 2 February in House Transportation, but the historic flooding and subsequent decimation of infrastructure during the 2nd week of December fairly well doomed the effort.

ABATE Rider Training 2026
The BOD voted to sponsor a full class for riders from ABATE this summer. I have received and forwarded bid from Cascade Motorcycle Safety for numerous different courses. Here is the option that we have chosen.
- Cascade Gymkhana: At $500/10 riders, this can possibly get 40 riders drilled over a weekend. The bang for the buck here is that there is no hard fast curriculum, but the drills can be tailored for the clientele. The bottom line, the rider improves their ability to put their front tire where that want it, and at the speed they want, with no drama.
If you are interested, message me and copy Bill, and your Chapter Coordinator. I am working with the training provider to tailor exercises that are more or less “bagger friendly” but still challenging.
The details:
- Rider Level: Novice through Expert
- Event Length: 3 hours over one day
-
Location: Cascade Motorcycle Safety, South Seattle College, 6000 16th Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98106 GOOGLE MAP
- Participants: 10 riders, no passengers
- Riding Gear: Full coverage (Jackets, good pants, DOT helmet, full fingered gloves, over the ankle footwear)
- Motorcycle: Any street legal motorcycle, passing T-CLOCS, Liability Insurance
The training will be at South Seattle College, 6000 16th Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98106. There will be multiple sessions on a couple of different days. The dates will be finalized at the April BOD so let your chapter coordinators know your preferences. I’m looking at the idea of a weekend in June or early July.
Riders should be at the location by a half hour before start time so that we can get bike inspections and paperwork done, to be ready to ride.
This should fill up fast, so get your bid in early to get some refresher training on the company dime. Please include your name, ABATE number, and contact information when you message me.
I will have had my new Tenere 700 for enough time, so I can assist with the class. 😉
Until next time, ride safely and have fun.

Hello Everyone! Happy Spring!
Your MRF Team has been busy as of late! Donovan and myself were up at the Swap Meet in Monroe, and our newest ABATE MRF Team Assistant Representative, Michael Paul was at the Spokane Motorcycle Show educating the masses. We’ve been out spreading the good work of ABATE of Washington, the Motorcycle Riders Foundation and the importance of our fight & commitment to keep our lifestyle!
Michael Paul became your newest MRF Assistant Representative for ABATE of Washington in February 2026, and we are excited to have him be another voice for freedom in ABATE. As the Spokane Chapter’s newest LAO (Legislative Affairs Officer), these roles go hand in hand, and we look forward to his leadership in our organization!
Later this year, your chapters will vote on the legislative agendas for the 2027 Legislative session and our January 21, 2027 Motorcycle Legislation Day (MLD) Agenda topics. I think it’s imperative that we consider some of the items of importance to riders on a national level, that affect us here on the state level, as well as the topics we have given attention to for the last couple of years.
As we keep working on the right to ride, we are paving the path for those who come after us, to continue to enjoy the freedoms we have today, hopefully for decades to come.
| |
These important agenda topics could potentially include:
Our right to repair and retain our motorcycles- protect our right to repair, access to parts, tools, diagnostics, and other technology, and monitor any restrictions
Autonomous Vehicle Safety- advocate that AV vehicles MUST detect and respond to motorcycles safely and that standards are set (WA is self-certifying)
A motorcycle is a motorcycle- support an updated definition of a motorcycle
Internal Combustion Mandates
End of life directives- Oppose any program that seeks to limit the usage of motorcycles based on age.
Automated noise enforcement cameras- oppose and condemn targeted efforts to create vehicle racing enforcement zones that may unfairly target motorcycles.
Internal Combustion Engines- Work to ensure the survival of internal combustion engines and opposed any legislation that threatened internal combustion engine production
Give it some thought, have the discussions with your fellow brothers and sisters. Standing up for our rights is the reason we are part of ABATE of Washington. Washington state’s Motorcycle Rights Organization is stronger, when we work together. Now, more than ever, our intentions on legislative achievement need to be laser focused.
Want to be an effective voice for motorcycle rights and our future? Consider attending Bikers inside the Beltway in May and sit face to face with members of Congress and staff, and be heard, with the MRF leadership. With the support of MROs (Motorcycle Rights Organizations) across the United States, they will deliver the message that riders want to take care of business. See the flyer below for more details.
It’s important to stand up for your rights, and support the organizations that do the same, like ABATE of Washington, and the Motorcycle Riders Foundation, the COC, the AMA, COIR and others like them. Keep up the great work! Never forget….our rights won’t fight for themselves.
If you have any questions about the MRF, membership, or topics of importance, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Every so often, a fight comes along that reminds us why we refuse to sit on the sidelines. The battle over the federal definition of a motorcycle (HB 3385) is one of those fights.
The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) exists for one reason: to protect the rights of motorcyclists and defend the integrity of motorcycling. When politics or bad definitions threaten that, we push back. Period.
Right now, that line is being challenged.
Some three-wheeled autocycle manufacturers have exploited an outdated definition to squeeze vehicles with steering wheels, bucket seats, and car-style controls into a category never intended for them. Take a wheel off a small car and call it a motorcycle? That’s not innovation — that’s gaming the system.

Grassroots In Action
Wisconsin Engaging Key Lawmakers
| Last month, grassroots advocacy was on full display in Wisconsin. John Reblin, Executive Director of ABATE of Wisconsin, attended a political event featuring Tammy Baldwin (D-WI). Opportunities like this give motorcyclists a chance to engage directly with elected officials and ensure the concerns of riders remain part of the conversation. | | | |

KEY PENINSULA - Greetings Brothers and Sisters of ABATE,
Spring is just around the corner. While it arrived a little later than usual, the recent snowfall was a welcome sight. Traveling around the region, it’s hard not to appreciate the snow-capped mountains lining both sides of the Sound—always a reminder of why we ride where we do.
At our March meeting, attendance was a bit lighter—likely due to the cold—but the spirit was strong. We proudly recognized the Key Peninsula Chapter’s 9th consecutive year of sustained MRF membership. The Chapter Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator presented a certificate and patch to mark the milestone.
A sincere thank you to our MRF Representative, Kim Adair, for her tireless dedication—not only to our chapter, but to the organization as a whole. Her commitment, leadership, and the many roles she fills do not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for everything she brings to the table.
PSA: Due to a scheduling conflict with ECOM, our Spring Ride has been rescheduled to May 3rd. A flyer will be coming out shortly. The Ride Committee has put together a solid route with an emphasis on fellowship and a little well-earned throttle therapy—thank you to Jamie, Pete, and Chad for leading the charge.
We’re looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible out on the road, and our ride!
Ride safe, and we’ll see you soon.

SPOKANE- March has been a busy month in the Spokane area as riding season begins. We are excited to get back on the road and remain focused on safety. The motorcycle show was a great success; we sold many raffle tickets and signed up several new members for ABATE.
Looking ahead, we are expecting a strong turnout for our awareness ride in May. As always, we will ensure full compliance with all local and state laws during our events.
Best regards,

EPCC- Hello and Happy Easter from EPCC! Our 6th Annual Leprechaun Memorial Run on March 14th was lovely. Leprechaun Mic again blessed us with sunshine the whole day from his personal rainbow (I believe he’s still watching over his people). We started the Run at Sumner’s Log Cabin and rode a circuitous route to the Draft Choice near Covington (avoiding roads closed from the previous day’s snowstorm). We paid our respects at the beautifully snow-blanketed Tahoma Veteran’s Cemetery in Kent, then off to lunch at Jack’s Barbeque in Algona (the former Royal Bear). Our shenanigans wrapped up with game winners collecting prizes at Captain Jack’s in Sumner. We were warmly welcomed at every stop and grateful for the four friends from Rat City, Tacoma and Foothills Chapters who ventured out to help brighten our day. Now we’re looking forward to the EPCC Mystery Run on May 30th, so save that date! Stay safe, everyone and enjoy riding into Spring.
