" Jesus the Good Shepherd is a description of Christ that the Early Church frequently used to teach about Jesus’ life, ministry, and mission. Many ancient mosaics and illustrations depict Jesus as a young shepherd who carries a lamb across his shoulders. The Gospel of John describes Jesus as The Lamb of God, sacrificed on a cross for the sins of the world. As our Good Shepherd, Jesus knows and recognizes each one of us as his beloved lambs who need guidance, protection and love. You are a beloved lamb of Christ Jesus’ flock, and he forgives you today, right where you are, no matter what you have done. Jesus welcomes you into God’s eternal mercy through the holy sacrament of baptism, and promises that nothing can ever separate you from the love of the Good Shepherd." John 10:22-30
