Good Monday Afternoon!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! This weekend, I was busy canning applesauce and apple pie filling. Our apple tree has produced more apples this year since we planted it over 20 years ago. It was my first time canning apple pie filling, and I used clear jel. With my first batch, I filled the jars too high, and even though I had an inch of headspace, my jars leaked. I took some filling out, cleaned the jars, and reprocessed them with new seals, and it worked. I have twelve quarts of apple pie filling and 36 pints of applesauce, and I still have baskets of apples, and my tree is still full of apples. If you want, come on out and pick apples before it freezes!
What a wonderful time we had at Adventures in Learning on Friday. Two of our programs were about keeping safe: AARP - Identity Theft and Topeka Police Department - Personal Protection. Both of these programs were recorded, and as soon as I get the videos uploaded to our YouTube Channel, I will post a link in Monday's email so you can watch them.
If you haven't had a chance to come to Adventures in Learning, please join us; you will have a great time, and there is always something to learn. Thank you to Oakley Place for providing our wonderful refreshments and the door prize last Friday! Mandy, thank you for sharing your heartfelt story behind founding Oakley Place. We appreciate you sharing your mission of providing a place for those who can no longer stay in their home. To learn more about Oakley Place, click here: Oakley Place.
