MOSQUITO 101: FIGHT THE BITE!

While we're all completely aware of "social distancing" in this newly upside-down world we're living in, mosquitoes didn't get the memo. And as many of us have been spending more & more time outside recently, it's just a matter of time before mosquitoes break the "6 foot distance" rule and start hanging out with us. Ugh.

Their annoying presence can ruin a backyard BBQ, driveway fire pit night, and play time in your pool or yard almost instantly. Their itchy bites create discomfort for days. The hum of their wings at night can wake the soundest of sleepers. But beyond their nuisance factor, mosquitoes are carriers of some of the most deadly diseases including zika virus, West Nile virus and malaria.

Mosquito season kicks off in April and we're already spotting them around our area. While there's a lot going on in the world that is out of our control right now, tackling issues with mosquitoes & keeping them away is definitely something that we can help control. It's time to fight the bite with Blue Chip's Mosquito Control Treatment Program!

MOSQUITO CONTROL TREATMENT: HOW DOES IT WORK?

Our monthly treatments (April - September) use a fine mist application of microencapsulated materials to treat the foliage all around your house and yard -- landscaping areas as well as the perimeter of your yard. Especially heavy applications will be done in areas that are wooded. Each targeted application is designed to kill mosquitoes where they hide and rest during the day.

   GOOD TO KNOW...
  • It is impossible to tell if mosquitoes are carrying a disease or not.
  • While it primarily targets mosquitoes, our Mosquito Control Treatments also help control fleas & ticks and have been found to be extremely effective at controlling populations of Japanese beetles.
  • We also have mosquito treatments available for ponds and lakes. We treat these mosquito breeding sites with a larvicide to prevent eggs from hatching & the larvae from emerging as adults. These treatments are safe for fish and other wildlife as they are not pesticides.

Mosquito season lasts from April through September. Protect yourself and your family members by remembering the 4 D's of mosquito safety: Drain, Deet, Dress and Dusk/Dawn.

Bonus tip? Pay special attention to areas such as birdbaths, window wells, gutters and leaky exterior faucets when it comes to locating standing water.
