KBOR LOCAL NEWS
We’ve received some inquires on the section of the Governor’s Executive Order stating " If a real estate showing is necessary, a screening for symptoms is encouraged ."

Some firms have developed screening CoVid19 questionnaires. If your firm decides to go that route, it is absolutely acceptable, but assure that you ask every client to complete to avoid potential fair housing issues. You may ask them to complete and sign the questionnaire before setting any showing appointments. The following are acceptable questions:

  • Have they recently traveled outside of the United States?
  • Have they had at least (2) of the following symptoms? Fever, Chills, Headache, Shortness of Breath.
  • Have they worked in a facility with recognized CoVid19 cases in the last 14 days?
  • Have they come in contact with anyone within the last 14 days with CoVid19 symptoms?

If they answer yes, you have the right to gently ask if they would consider a virtual tour instead at this time, which you have the capability of setting up in the IRMLS.

If you do hold an open house, consider requiring all visitors to disinfect their hands upon entering the home, and provide alcohol-based hand sanitizers at the entryway, as well as soap and disposable towels in bathrooms. You may even want them to wear disposable booties. Make sure all the lights are on in each room and open all closet doors. This way the open house attendees do not have any need to touch a light switch or door knob. Do not allow more than one set of clients in at a time. After the open house, recommend your Seller clean and disinfect their home, especially commonly touched areas like doorknobs and faucet handles.

IAR NEWS
“Housing markets had a strong first quarter,” said Terre Haute’s Bernice Helman, 2020 President of the Indiana Association of REALTORS®. “The drop in March pending sales is likely due to COVID-19, but closed sales and prices held with considerable increases."
“It is impossible to predict how housing markets will perform over the next several months,” continued Helman . “What Realtors do know is, Hoosiers’ housing needs don’t stop because of a virus. Real estate remains an essential business in Indiana and Realtors have many tools to get our clients to the closing table in this time of social distancing.”

HAVE YOU RENEWED YOUR LICENSE??
The deadline to renew your Indiana real estate broker license is June 30, 2020.
Per IAR, only a third of all licensees have renewed so far.
They fear that some members assume the deadline has been delayed due to the pandemic…. IT HAS NOT
Here are some tips:
  • Do not click yes if you have not completed ALL your required CE. The license renewal process will ask if you completed the required continuing education (CE). It’s tempting to click yes and plan to complete CE later, especially since you do not submit certificates of completion during the renewal process (schools do this for you). However, if you click yes and it’s discovered through an audit that you completed CE afterward, you will receive a fine.
DON'T FORGET!
RECP IS OFFERING A DISCOUNT ON THEIR 12- HOUR ONLINE CE PACKAGE THROUGH MAY 31st!!!

  • Give the license renewal process your full attention. Last time, we know of some members who erroneously clicked no to the U.S. citizenship question. They spent a lot of time and trouble proving their citizenship and getting it corrected in IPLA/IREC records. In fact, since the renewal process opened this morning, 100+ have selected yes to both the U.S. citizen and qualified alien question (not possible). If you’ve already renewed, please check that you did it correctly. If you made a mistake, get to work fixing it immediately. Otherwise, your ability to do business may be put on hold.

The deadline is June 30, 2020
Don’t risk your license and livelihood by waiting!
