Halo House recently partnered with a fellow nonprofit organization, Second Servings. This organization's mission is to alleviate hunger and reduce waste in the city by rescuing surplus food from businesses and conduct free same-day delivery to approved charitable meal sites.

Each week, Second Servings volunteers visit Halo House with a van full of rescued food for our residents!

Halo House is thankful for this partnership and the generosity of Second Servings for providing our residents with fresh, new cuisines during their difficult journey.

Ding Dong!

Over the Valentine's Day weekend, Halo House provided residents with supplies to get creative and decorate their doors.

A contest was held to determine the top 3 most creative and festive doors with winners receiving a sweet treat!

Meet the Wilsons

Diana’s daughter, Hailey, was scheduled to have her tonsils removed. This routine tonsillectomy ended with Hailey receiving a diagnosis of leukemia when she was only 17. She is currently in remission but needs constant transfusions after her chemotherapy. For Diana, who lives in the Rio Grande Valley and is here in The Medical Center for her daughter’s treatment, Halo House has served as more than just affordable housing.

Halo House has provided a sense of security for Diana and has allowed her to feel safe knowing she is in such close proximity to the hospital. This is Diana’s second stay at Halo House, which attests to the sense of comfort, security, and community Halo House brings her. Even walking down the hallway brings comfort because she knows that everyone is going through something similar. Diana has high praise for the facility, services, and staff at Halo House, with nothing but appreciation for the work they do.

Dinner is Served!

Long-time volunteer, Gerrie visits Halo House once a month to host a home-cooked meal for our residents.

From soups and pastas to vegetarian friendly dishes and desserts, Gerrie always prepares delicious meals all of our residents can enjoy! Thank you, Gerrie for your selfless service.
