This tour is a Grand Tour. It is not a race and it is not a 1,000 mile a day event.
The purpose of the tour is to explore and experience the great state of Texas on your bike. This should be a fun exploration on your bike, not a grueling ride.
Texas has fascinating history, great roads to ride, varied geographic regions, cool towns to explore, and many nice folks to meet.
Make it to 25 of the tour stops to qualify as a Tour Finisher (in accordance with the rules for participation).
The tour lasts about eight months. So, folks can spend time exploring, seeing the sights, and experiencing all that our great state has to offer.

Mark your calendars. Plans for a Sept 11th weekend event in Kerrville will be developed.
If the Covid 19 vaccines are generally available prior to that weekend, we can include more activities. If the vaccines are not readily available, my initial plans will need to be altered. More details to come...

The 2021 Tour Stops web page shows each tour stop on the tour, and includes links (just click the name of the tour stop) that provide information about each tour stop. You should be able to find the location of the tour stop by going to the links.
Also on the 2021 Tour Stops page, you can download and printout a pdf file. The pdf includes a picture of each tour stop. When you get to a tour stop, be sure that it looks like the picture. If it doesn't, you may not be at the right place.

$1,000 Spending Spree
from Moto Liberty
|
Moto Liberty is one of the great sponsors of the Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas.
On May 15, 2021, they will conduct a drawing of registered riders on the 2021 tour. The rider whose tour flag number is drawn will win a $1,000 spending spree from Moto Liberty!
You do not have to have made a stop at Moto Liberty to be in the drawing. I will provide the owner of Motor Liberty with the flag numbers of all of the registered riders. She will then draw from those numbers to select the winner. After she selects the winning flag number, I’ll provide her with the name and contact information for the number drawn. The drawing will take place in the store.
The idea and funding of this drawing was originated by the owner of Moto Liberty. Thank you Audrey for being such a great supporter of the tour!

There is a Google Map on the website. But, I know some of you want to navigate the Old School way. You can use the button below to request a free paper map of Texas.
|
Several folks have looked at the map on the tour website and told me that tour stop # 44 is missing. It's not missing, it is just not on the map. Why? Because tour stop # 44 is the only mobile tour stop on the tour. Lone Star Rider's (Rex Covington) trailer is tour stop # 44.
How do you find his trailer to take a picture with it? I will arrange a couple of dates for him to be at a specified location where you can find him. However, you can also find his location by going to his GPS tracking page. He carries a GPS tracker that updates about every 15 minutes. To go to his tracking page, click the button below. You can contact Rex via email at rexjc@mac.com.

One of the new sponsors for the 2021 tour is Texas Sidecar Company (TSC).
|
TSC manufactures sidecars for most types of motorcycles and many scooters. You can see many of their builds on their website (www.texassidecars.com).
Their sidecars are very competitively priced. They try to keep the build time down to around 12 weeks, while many competitors have build times of five to ten months.
Under Kent Silk's ownership, the business grew quickly. In need of a larger facility, Kent moved the business to Donie, Texas in December 2020.
The new location enables TSC to host rallies and a "Bunk-A-Biker" program. The Bunk-A-Biker program allows them to serve as a free campsite for traveling bikers. The bunkabiker.org website allows people to see a map with pinned hosting locations and connect with them. It normally is as easy as texting the host with your travel date and obtaining a confirmation reply from the host. At TSC's facility, they have a campsite for a biker with a trailer or tent camping. They offer water and electrical service for the stay.
In the fall of 2021, TSC plans to host a sidecar rally. They expect 50-75 rigs from Texas and nearby states to attend.
Finding their location is a little tricky, as Google labeled their street as Dollar Street, while the Post Office says the street is Worthy and the State says the street is FM80. The GPS coordinates to their location are 31.480654,-96.223171. Donie Bank is in the heart of town. From Donie Bank (at the corner of FM164 and FM80), turn north onto FM80. They are the third building on the right from the bank.

Small businesses (like our sponsors) employ Texans. If you can, buy from a Texas based small business and help keep fellow Texans employed in these challenging times. On-line ordering for merchandise, gift cards, future lodging, etc. is often an option.
