Hello,
We’re excited to let you know that AAJA is partnering with
Mathison
to pilot a new platform to connect AAJA members with employers. The pilot, which is supported by the Knight Foundation, aims to increase career opportunities for organizations with memberships like ours and bolster employers’ diversity and inclusion efforts. This partnership came about from initial work to determine how best to serve our members who are freelancers.
The goal of this pilot partnership is to improve the processes for identifying and diversifying talent in news, media, and journalism, and we are excited to be part of this effort.
The Mathison platform, the world’s first diversity talent marketplace, sets out to bridge gaps between diverse communities and leading employers committed to inclusion. The platform is unique in that the identity of job candidates are initially hidden, allowing potential employers to focus on a skills-based approach to hiring. On the platform, employers will be able to search through AAJA member profiles using key words targeting specific skills, experiences, education, geography, and other factors. AAJA will work with Mathison to identify key words that should be included in the taxonomy for hiring journalists and journalism-related talent.
Your participation in this pilot is the first stage of determining how we can collaborate with Mathison on onboarding more members, and bringing newsrooms and media organizations onto the platform.
