Support Access to Behavioral Health in Union County

Bridgeway Behavioral Health Services has launched a Capital Campaign to expand access to high-quality, integrated, mental health care in Union County.

Our $2 million renovation at 567 Morris Avenue, Elizabeth will transform the site into a modern, fully integrated Center for Outpatient Services - a place of rapid access, outpatient treatment, case management, and holistic care for all ages. With $1 million already secured, we need your help to raise the final $1 million by December 2027.

Why it matters:

  • Mental illness is the #1 health concern in Union County.
  • Residents face some of the longest wait times for care in New Jersey - 8 to 12 weeks or more.
  • Delays in treatment often lead to ER visits, incarceration or homelessness.

Together, we can ensure no one waits for the care they need.

On Thursday, September 4, 2025, Bridgeway Behavioral Health Services hosted Stand Up for Behavioral Health - A Night of Color & Comedy at our Union headquarters, bringing together nearly 200 friends, partners, and community members for an inspiring evening of laughter and support.

The night featured comedian and ventriloquist John Pizzi, known from America’s Got Talent Seasons 6 and 7, who kept the audience entertained while we celebrated the power of partnership.

We proudly honored RWJBarnabas Health, the Franklin Township Police Department, and the Housing Authority of the City of Elizabeth for their dedication to crisis response and public service. Their collaboration continues to shine as an example of how strong partnerships transform lives.

This event was made possible thanks to the generosity of all our sponsors—especially Woods System of Care, RWJBarnabas Health, Rapps Pharmacy, Homestead Smart Health Plans, and Johnson Kendall Johnson—whose support helps us restore lives and renew hope every day.

The celebration was more than just an evening together; it was a reminder that even in a world where mental illness is too often stigmatized, we can choose to uplift, advocate, and stand united. And of course, we chose to laugh—because joy and resilience remain at the heart of healing.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Empowering Recovery.
Rebuilding Lives.

Integrated Case Management Services (ICMS)

Severe and persistent mental illness can be profoundly disruptive—fracturing routines, relationships, and stability. For many, it leads to hospitalization, sometimes repeatedly or for extended periods. The journey back home, while hopeful, can be disorienting. Expectations to quickly adapt to new environments are often high, yet the resources and supports needed to succeed may be limited or absent.

Without a stable foundation, individuals face heightened risks: the return of debilitating symptoms, isolation, and the possibility of rehospitalization. This is where Integrated Case Management Services (ICMS) becomes a lifeline.

BRIDGEWAY BEHAVIORAL HEALTH: A Legacy of Community Support in Sussex County

By Ronald Allen, MA, CCDP-D

Director, Bridgeway Behavioral health Sussex County Community Support Teams

Bridgeway Behavioral Health’s Sussex County Community Support Teams were proud to be featured once again at the New Jersey State Fair, affectionately known as the “Farm and Horse Show.” Our presence at this beloved annual event spans decades, reflecting our deep roots in the Sussex County community.

Over the years, our program members have actively participated in fair competitions - from arts and crafts to gardening, floral arrangements, and vegetable displays - celebrating the spirit of rural life and community engagement. Bridgeway's Partial Care Day Program has long been the driving force behind our fair involvement, exemplifying how our services foster meaningful integration into community life.

BRIDGEWAY JOINS GLOBAL HEALTH LEADERS AT TUFH2025

Bridgeway Behavioral Health Services was proud to join global health leaders at TUFH2025, hosted by Woods System of Care, in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. President & CEO Cory Storch attended each day, joined by several Bridgeway staff. The conference focused on Reframing Access to Health: Challenging Assumptions and Reimagining Solutions.

Across plenaries, site visits, and the IDD/Autism Summit (September 14 to 15), attendees shared integrated, person-centered approaches and community-driven ideas that we are eager to bring back to New Jersey. We are grateful to The Network: Towards Unity for Health (TUFH) for convening this important gathering and to Woods System of Care for hosting.

BRIDGEWAY JOINS COMMUNITIES FOR NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

Bridgeway was proud to join communities across New Jersey for National Night Out!

On Tuesday, August 5th, Bridgeway Behavioral Health Services was proud to join communities across New Jersey in celebrating National Night Out. This annual event, held the first Tuesday of August, brings together neighbors, local law enforcement, and community organizations to strengthen bonds and promote safety.

Our teams were excited to connect with community members, share information about our services, and enjoy family-friendly activities alongside local police departments and residents.

At Bridgeway, we know that strong, supportive neighborhoods play a vital role in mental health. Reducing isolation, building trust, and creating safe spaces are essential to emotional well-being. Events like National Night Out reflect our mission to restore lives and renew hope by fostering environments where people feel seen, valued, and supported.
