The Impact We’re Making Together
We know that many kids today are spending less time outside than ever before. With so many hours indoors or in front of screens, children are missing out on the joy, confidence, and wonder that comes from connecting with nature. Thanks to supporters like you, Prairie Woods is helping reverse this trend, creating a haven where kids can step away from screens and into the outdoors.
Every day, Prairie Woods is a destination for countless public visitors who enjoy our trails and campus, connecting with nature in their own way. Beyond these informal visitors, here’s a glimpse of the measurable impact your support helps create: So far this year, we’ve welcomed over 7,500 participants on our challenge course, hosted 101 school field trips, and offered countless other programs and events that have brought over 21,000 total participants into the PWELC experience! Many of these kids are even giving back as volunteers, contributing to over 900 volunteer hours of service this year. 🙌🌱
With activities like prairie restoration, rock climbing, and canoeing/kayaking, children are building skills and making memories. And through new programs like Forest Fridays, we’re offering hands-on nature experiences that kids will carry with them for a lifetime.
