Highlands Community Association School Uniform Initiative

Studies suggest that uniformed students demonstrate improved listening and punctuality, increased collective discipline, and stronger academic outcomes. But for many families in the Wilmington area, purchasing school uniforms is a hardship.

The goal of the Friendship House School Uniform Initiative is to provide uniforms to 2,000 under-resourced students in the Red Clay School District – 10,000 uniforms in all. And the Highlands Community Association would like your help, please:

  1. Purchase Size 3T-20 uniforms (white, light blue and navy polo shirts plus navy and khaki pants) at Target, Walmart, or Old Navy
  2. Purchase Gift Cards in $25 increments to Target, Walmart, or Old Navy
  3. Donate gently used uniforms free of any rips, stains, or tears.
  4. Donate directly to The Friendship House online here. (Please email Allison so she can help Friendship House account for neighborhood's efforts.)

Donations will be accepted through July 23 in the plastic bin on Allison Cassidy's front porch at 1420 Hamilton Street. Please email Allison with questions. And thank you for making this a successful initiative!
