One last effort from MUUSAN supporters will ensure that Maine is ready to bring clean offshore wind energy to the Gulf of Maine! In addition, this bill supports an exciting new industry that will benefit Maine workers and the state’s economy.
The legislature will be in session on Tuesday, July 25th to finish their business, including voting on a comprehensive offshore wind bill.

Attendance from legislators on the 25th will be key in making sure offshore wind will become a reality in Maine!
Please contact your representative and senator TODAY to support the comprehensive offshore wind bill! Here are the key messages:
  • State legislators, the Mills administration, organized labor, a key fisheries group, and environmental organizations have reached an agreement on language in this comprehensive offshore wind bill.
  • The bill includes key provisions of the offshore wind procurement and ports bills, both of which already passed both chambers of the legislature.
  • The bill will come up for critical votes on July 25th, and legislators' attendance and votes in support are essential to making sure Maine takes advantage of this historic opportunity for the climate, our economy, jobs, and Maine communities.

Thank you for reaching out to your legislators and sharing this message!

Here’s why we think the comprehensive offshore wind bill is so important:
  • It will result in home-grown clean energy that will stimulate billions in private sector investment in our ports, businesses, and communities.
  • It includes strong standards to build high-quality career pathways, as well as to protect Maine’s environment, wildlife, lobster and fishing industries and to ensure that no community is left behind.
  • Offshore wind will provide a stable and affordable source of electricity, protecting Maine people and businesses from the volatile price spikes we are experiencing because of the region’s heavy reliance on dirty oil and gas.
