This year has been a banner year for Trout Unlimited in Arizona! Together, we’ve celebrated major milestones:

• Apache Trout Recovery: Officially delisted as an endangered species in September 2024 – a testament to years of hard work.
• Trout in the Classroom: Garnering widespread recognition as a standout educational program.
• Jim Walker Inducted: Arizona Outdoor Hall of Fame – a significant honor and recognition.
• Nate Rees Honored: Named the 2024 Conservationist of the Year by the Arizona Game & Fish Department Commissioners – a proud moment for all of us!

These achievements remind us of the power of conservation, education, and community. But our work is far from done.

The Gila Trout, one of the rarest trout species in the U.S., remains on the threatened list. Arizona’s streams, including Chase Creek, Dude Creek, Haigler Creek, and others, urgently need restoration to secure a future for this iconic species. Additionally, funding cuts by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to Trout in the Classroom have placed this vital program at risk.
