Welcome to another fabulous Fall!

New look for Winter 2025-2026!

September | 2025

TA-DA! Wapiti Nordic is proud to present our new logo! It’s an exciting refresh on the former classic vintage logo that pays homage to our natural setting, yet reflects our continued evolution as a recreation venue in the Grande Prairie region. Special thanks to local graphic design company Nine10 and thanks also to Club and Board Members who provided creative and verbal input along the way! It features:

  • Clean, modern crest image, reminiscent of a heart shape – symbolizing the broad and longstanding love for our community gem
  • Natural elements (trees) prominent as Members requested when surveyed
  • A nod to our unique rolling dunes topography
  • Winding trail representing year round access to multiple types of trail users
  • All lovingly "wrapped" in elk (Wapiti) antlers!

Other fun facts:

  • The name on the logo has been shorten to Wapiti Nordic (as it is often verbally referred to) although the not-for-profit Society will continue to officially operate as Wapiti Nordic Ski Club.
  • Sub groups of the Club (e.g. Biathlon, Race Team, Mtn Bike) now have their own custom adaptation of the new logo.
  • An online swag store with new logo items is coming soon! Watch for the link on our website homepage.

We hope that the new logo resonates with your experiences and expectations of Wapiti Nordic.

Biathlon Bears/Ecoaims Try-It Days

Sept 27 + Oct 4 | 2025

We have two more Ecoaims Try-It sessions planned for Saturday, Sept 27 & Saturday, Oct 4, both at 12:30pm at the Biathlon Stadium (across the road from the main Steve Cooper Lodge). These sessions are open to everyone, including anyone who has already attended a previous Try-It session. We’ll also have a fun obstacle course to enhance the challenge of shooting with easy physical activity.

The Ecoaims program formally starts on Saturday November 1, 2025 with two sessions. The morning session will start at 10am and is intended for all athletes over the age of 12 years, and siblings of the current Biathlon group. This is a great way to learn skate skiing. The afternoon session, from 1 to 2 pm, is the Biathlon Bears group, for younger athletes. Skate ski rental packages will be available for all. Not ready to skate ski? Classic skiers are welcome to join the program too. The Try-It sessions will be cancelled if it is raining. For more information, email Cori or Davis. Give Ecoaims a shot this Winter!

New North Multi Use Trails

September | 2025

Just in time for Fall! We’re thrilled to announce the opening of our newest multi-use trail from the WNSC Trails Master Plan = Pine Dodger! This 5km (approx.) singletrack builds on everything we learned from Swampdogger - but this time with smoother lines, better flow, and a whole lot more speed. The first and last 100m are hand-benched singletrack, with the middle section designed to carry momentum through the pines. Pine Dodger is fast, fun, and built to last. Check it out on Trailforks!

This trail exists thanks to the sweat, time, and passion of our incredible trail crew. Huge shout-out to the volunteers who dug, cleared, raked, and shaped this ride into reality. Your effort is what makes trails like this possible! Two Strava Segments have been set up for Ride or Run

Like all of our new builds, Pine Dodger will keep getting love:

• Final signage and “You Are Here” maps coming soon

• Ongoing maintenance to smooth and refine sections

• Long-term durability improvements already in the plan

Trail caution: This is still a fresh build! Expect some soft sections and natural features. Ride, run, or hike with care and share your feedback.

Remember—this is a multi-use trail. Please respect all users, yield appropriately, and help keep the trail experience positive for everyone.

Thank you to our members, volunteers, and community for making Pine Dodger possible. Let’s ride!

Kids XC Leader Wanted

Admin support will be provided by the new Operations Coordinator, Sarah. Please email if interested of if you have further questions.
