Friends and Supporters,

Henrico County is updating its comprehensive plan. With rapid growth, can the county avoid the mistakes of Northern Virginia? And what can the county do to reduce its emissions and help fight climate change?

Dealing with Climate Change:

The Henrico Conservation Action Network (HCAN) is hosting a forum to discuss and learn about the importance of climate action planning and Henrico’s need for a climate action plan. Climate action plans, such as the recently adopted RVA Green 2050, are essential tools to mitigate and plan for the effects of climate change in a locality.

The forum will include experts on environmental planning, sustainability professionals, community advocates, and young Henricoans. The forum will be held on Thursday, April 13, from 7-8:30 pm at Libbie Mill Library (2100 Libbie Lake East Street Richmond, VA 23230). The first 70 attendees will also receive a copy of The Carbon Almanac! You can find out more about this event and HCAN here. We encourage any non-Henrico residents to share this with their Henrico friends and neighbors!

Weigh on on the Comprehensive Plan:

The comprehensive plan guides growth and development and is a chance to support preserving farmlands and forests, revitalizing older communities, expanding transit, and increasing pedestrian and cyclist safety. You can share your input in two ways:

  1. Meeting in a Box - This tool allows community organizations to host meetings and discuss and capture feedback on the future of Henrico County. Comments are due to the County by June 1.
  2. Interactive Map - Allows you to comment by specific location for land use, transportation, public facilities and safety, public utilities, environment, and other issues.

We encourage you to check out the comprehensive plan update process and you can submit any questions on the comprehensive plan to [email protected]
