Empire State Trail News!

NY's Record-Breaking 750-Mile Empire State Trail

From NYC To Canada Is Officially Finished

Why the Completion of This Trail Matters To Us

In anticipation of our June Wayfinding Signage Capital Campaign launch, we were delighted to see this article highlighting the completion of the Empire State Trail (EST).

FOCUS ON CONNECTIONS

The southern tip of the Feeder Canal Park directly connects to the EST, guiding trail users west to Fort Edward, east to the Champlain Canal, and north to the Warren County Bikeway and Saratoga County trails.

Existing signage at the confluence of the Empire State Trail and the Feeder Canal Park at the Five Combines in Hudson Falls. Future signage will include points of interest, mile markers, and safety guidelines.

WAYFINDING GOALS

This Empire State Trail milestone sets the stage for the Feeder Canal Alliance and NYS Canal Corporation to focus on improving the safety and navigability of the entire length of the park with the following goals:

  • Highlight points of interest in the municipalities of Fort Edward, Hudson Falls, Kingsbury, Glens Falls, and Queensbury
  • Interpret historical areas and properties
  • Improve overall safety by updating & posting rules/etiquette/mileage for a variety of trail users
