Holiday Helpers Needed

First Serve has several special events coming up in November and December, and we’d love for you to be part of them! Explore the volunteer roles below and sign up to share your time and kindness with the teachers, staff, and families of the North Hill Cluster Schools. Sign-up to make a difference!

Volunteer at North High School Showcase Event

Help celebrate North High School's proud legacy as new students and families come to learn more about the school's academic offerings, school clubs, yearly events, and future initiatives. Volunteers are needed to help distribute snacks and assist teachers during the event. Please wear a First Serve shirt (shirts are available if needed). Click here to sign up to volunteer.

Set-up Staff Appreciation Snack Carts at Akron Public Schools

The week of November 17, First Serve wants to share more sunshine with the staff at the North Hill Cluster APS schools we support. Volunteers are needed to set up snack carts in the Teacher's Lounge for staff to enjoy. Volunteers will transport carts and snacks to the schools and set up snacks. All snacks will be purchased ahead of time by First Serve. Click here to sign up to volunteer.

Distribute Angel Tree Gifts at

North High School

On Monday, December 15 we need volunteers to unload, sort, distribute and deliver Angel Tree Gifts donated by Saint Hilary’s Parish. These gifts are for students and families at North High School. Please click here to sign up to volunteer for this fun event!

Help with Holiday Staff Breakfast at Harris Jackson CLC

It's time to celebrate the holiday season for the staff at Harris Jackson CLC on Wednesday, December 17. We need a crew of volunteers for setup and a crew for cleanup. All food will be provided by First Serve. Thank you! Please click here to volunteer for this event.

Last Lunch and Learn for 2025

Thank you to Dr. Sherry Bennington

After a year of hosting the Lunch and Learn series for North Hill Non-profit Organizations and Community Partners of First Serve we are overjoyed with the success and outcome of these events! A special thank you to Dr. Sherry Bennington who was the speaker on October 8! Sherry shared the experiences of the early days partnering with First Serve at Findley CLC when she was the principal at the school. Thank you to who all attended these events and we look forward to hosting these again in 2026!

Eagle Scout Project Completed

at North High School

Congratulations to Ryan Arnold for completing his Eagle Scout Award. During the winter and spring of this year Ryan developed plans and directed scouts in the building of a toy box for the Preschool at North High School. Ryan also directed the laying of pavers for the toy box to sit on. With the help of his Scout Troop, the final assembly and installation was completed in early June. The preschool students and staff are thrilled with the valuable addition to the playground! Great Job Ryan.

Thank You to the North High School

Class of 1975

On August 29 and 30 the North High School Class of 1975 celebrated their 50 Year Class Reunion. Classmates from all over the country came together for two days of activities including a special tour of the high school.

First Serve had the opportunity to showcase our involvement and partnership at North High School. As a result, during the weekend, the class raised funds for the many programs First Serve sponsors at the school. Thanks to all those who contributed that weekend and who continue to donate food and clothing to North High School!

Homecoming Dress Giveaway

at North High School

The halls were full of laughter and smiles as North High School girls selected Homecoming dresses. With the help of First Serve volunteers, girls picked out and tried on dresses – until they found the perfect one! Over one hundred fifty-eight dresses were given out. Girls also selected eighty-three pairs of shoes. Special thanks to all those who donated dresses and volunteered at the giveaway.

Hygiene Product Giveaway

On October 3, North High School students had an opportunity to select from a wide variety of hygiene products. Fifty-eight students stopped by to pick out items that they needed! Thanks to Jenny Wenger for assisting in the giveaway!

Findley Food Bag Packers- Twice a month on a Wednesday evening, First Serve Volunteers are needed to pack over 500 weekend bags of food for each of the students at Findley CLC. Please click here to see the upcoming packing dates and to sign up to help!

Food Pantry and Clothing Room: The school year is off to a very busy start. In September, Food Pantry visits by students and families doubled since last year. We need your help!
