Update on our Adopt an Instrument Campaign

A resounding THANK YOU to those of you who were able to join us for our Cabaret Night at the Savoy Denver! We enjoyed a lovely evening of music and community as we made a final push towards the end of our Adopt an Instrument campaign.

We’re thrilled to share that, thanks to your generosity, we raised $14,669 in donations! With the $10,000 matching contribution, our total now stands at $24,669! Your contributions will help ensure Colorado students have access to the music education they deserve, creating an impact that will resonate for years to come. On behalf of the BMTL team, thank you for your generosity!

Let's keep the momentum going as we move into Colorado's largest giving tradition, Colorado Gives Day. Details below!

Music Teachers share how BMTL has Impacted School Music Programs

At our Cabaret Night at the Savoy, Jeffco Public Schools Music Coordinator, Amy Woodley, shared her experiences, as well as those of teachers throughout JeffCo, who have benefited from the mission of Bringing Music to Life.

"We know that a high-quality musical experience begins with a high-quality, working instrument," said Amy. "For many of our families—especially in our Title I and low-income areas—the financial barrier to participation is simply too high. This is where you—and Bringing Music to Life—step in. You don’t just donate instruments; you directly fund opportunity, equity, and access for our students."

She went on to share an account from Jacob Reading, a teacher at the Foster Dual Language: "Bringing Music to Life has been a lifesaver for my program. The instruments provided...ensure that every student receives the instrument they want to play. This has led to students being happier, more successful, and more excited."

Amy then noted that Bringing Music to Life is "helping our instrumental music program thrive even as some of our other district enrollments shift. You are truly bringing music to life in Jeffco public schools every single day. Thank you for being our partners in this essential work."

Thank you, Amy, and to all the students, teachers, and schools we support throughout Colorado. We are humbled to be a partner in this most meaningful work!

Thank you, Steve Blatt!

During our event at the Savoy Denver on October 15, we took a moment to say "thank you" to the Founder of Bringing Music to Life, Steve Blatt. Board Chair Michael Frank shared this tribute:

"Steve conceived of and started the organization 16 years ago at Colorado Public Radio, and after 4 years of increasing success, he took it out on its own as a stand-alone nonprofit. Thousands of donated and repaired instruments later, he has helped secure the partners and funds needed to serve the never-ending demand from school music programs across Colorado. Our board has learned so much from his steady and sensitive leadership, and we have strived to emulate his kindness, warmth, humility, and generosity. Steve knows how to build lasting relationships and highly effective partnerships. By keeping our mission focused and sharp, he has led us through increasingly successful drives year after year.

Steve, you will be sorely missed, but we accept that it is the right moment for you to focus more intensely on other \\goals at this time in your life. So, as Dr. Spock of Star Trek fame once said, 'Live Long and Prosper.'

Or to liberally paraphrase Dr. Seuss. 'We mean what we say and we said what we meant, Steve Blatt is Treasured 100 percent.'"

Steve will continue to serve on the BMTL Board. Our heartfelt congratulations to Steve Blatt on a well-deserved retirement!

Eagle Scout
supports BMTL

Rising Eagle Scout Teagan Barela conducted an instrument drive as her service project. She was able to collect 64 instruments and over $500 to help fund repairs. Thanks so much, Teagan, and way to go!

Mark your calendars

Giving is good.

Giving is better when we do it together.

Bringing Music to Life is grateful to all who donate as part of Colorado’s largest giving season tradition, Colorado Gives Day. ColoradoGives.org is changing the way people give by connecting donors to the nonprofits they care about most.

While you might know us as the “instrument drive” people, did you know that Bringing Music to Life spends nearly $100,000 each year on instrument repairs? Before being placed in the hands of a young musician, each instrument must be carefully restored to excellent, playable condition.

On Tuesday, December 9, we invite you to support our mission of Bringing Music to Life. Your donation will help repair the hundreds of instruments we distribute to underserved school music programs across Colorado — giving more students the opportunity to discover the joy of making music.

Other Ways to Support our Mission

Bringing Music to Life offers several opportunities to donate – all designed to give students the gift of music by placing instruments in excellent working condition into the hands of students who otherwise would not be able to afford them. Click the images below for more information!
