Our 2024 survey of 1,001 Kentuckians showed just how urgent this work is:

• 87% of uninsured adults – and more than half who are insured – have gone without needed care or medications due to cost
• 38% don’t feel confident using their current health coverage
• 73% support a national program to provide health care for all

We’re responding to this need not only by advocating for long-term changes in how we finance coverage, but also by helping people navigate the system we have today.

Through our health care coverage literacy efforts, we’re giving Kentuckians the tools they need to make informed decisions, including:

• Understanding the types of coverage available
• What to consider when selecting a plan
• How to read and use insurance documents to check medical bills and insurance claims for accuracy
• How FSAs, HRAs, and HSAs work – and how they can save you money
• The pros and cons of Medicare and Medicare Advantage
• How to compare plans to meet your individual needs
