The Message this Week

Preaching Text: Jeremiah 1:1-10; 7:1-11

Jeremiah is called to speak! Like most prophets, Jeremiah isn’t thrilled at the prospects of the job. He definitely does not feel equipped. So God equips him. But that doesn’t mean it will be easy. Prophets are not future tellers or fortune tellers, they are truth tellers, speaking a truth beyond any particular moment, inviting a return to God in all moments.

Holy and Mighty God, thank you for the ways we are called and equipped with Your truth. Help us first to align our lives to this truth and then to live accordingly. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

WONDERING...

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.

Some of the things prophets say will happen do happen…Doesn’t that make them future tellers?

Swedish Days in Geneva are Wednesday, June 18 through Sunday, June 22. Worship services will be as regularly scheduled; Saturday at 5PM and Sunday at 9AM & 10:30AM. 10:30AM is also livestreamed at the link above. Please allow extra time for parking.

• Make us bold to proclaim your love and justice in all that we do and say.
• As your beloved created ones, show us how to care for all the things that you have made.
• Make your presence known to our world’s leaders, so that they might govern with wisdom and insight.
• Show us how to care for our bodies, minds, and spirits. When our care is not enough, extend your own healing hand upon all who are in need, especially Ken & Sue Issel and Ric Tornberg.
• Make us grateful for your gifts, and generous to share them with the world.
• With joy and thanksgiving we remember the saints who heeded your call, whether they spoke your truth of love and justice boldly out loud or quietly by example.
• For our confirmation students that are leaving for camp at LOMC on Sunday.

Trusting in your unending grace for all that you have made, we lift these and the prayers of our hearts to your loving care. Amen.
