on the

One Health Commission Board of Directors

Dear One Health Community,

The One Health Commission (OHC) is pleased to announce an open call for board members to join its governing body. We are seeking distinguished experts who embody collaborative, multi- and trans-disciplinary approaches to addressing shared health challenges across human, animal, environmental, and plant health domains.

What We're Looking For

We seek candidates who can span multiple health domains and who have experience engaging community voices. We require at least one dedicated expert from each of these essential domains:

• Human Domain: Medical professionals, public health experts, epidemiologists

• Other Animal Domain: Veterinarians, wildlife health professionals, animal sciences experts

• Plant Domain: Agricultural / horticultural specialists, botanists, foresters, plant health professionals

• Environmental Domain: Ecosystem specialists, climate scientists, environmental health professionals

Essential Qualifications

Demonstrated expertise in and commitment to the One Health approach

Strong network connections within your domain and/or region

Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a relevant field

Proficiency in English

Ability to collaborate across disciplines and sectors

Familiarity with the international One Health space

Key Responsibilities

Board members will commit to:

Meeting Participation: Attend minimum 75% of Board meetings (60-90 minutes each)

Time Commitment: Approximately 3-5 hours per month

Governance: Provide strategic leadership and oversight

Committee Service: Participate in at least one Board committee

Annual Retreat: Attend the annual Board retreat (online and/or in-person)

Fundraising: Actively assist in attracting financial resources

Personal Capacity Gift: Annual donation (any amount) demonstrating financial commitment

Board terms are typically three years. However, in this initial call, options of one, two, or three-year terms of service with staggered renewal cycles will be offered to ensure continuity.
