Dear Students and Alumni,

By now you've probably heard the sad news that Marian Court College will close its doors this Friday, June 26th, due to low enrollment this coming fall semester. 

This is devastating news after the College's successful Gala where it received over $200,000 in donations to support this year's academic scholarships, followed by an historic graduation ceremony with Governor Charlie Baker offering the Commencement address, as the College celebrated its 50th year anniversary.  This is also the first year students graduated from the College with bachelor's degrees! 

Many of us among the evening students have initiated a campaign to help keep the school open, and we would love to have your support.  

Here is what we're up to:

1.  Petition:  We published an online Petition to the Board of Trustees to keep the school open.  We requested an assembly to share ideas we have for how to raise money for the school and enroll more students.  We have also requested the Board keep the College open for one more evening session to give us time to help recruit new students to the College.  To join us in petitioning the Board to save the College kindly go to:  

2.  Fundraising: We started a CrowdRise campaign to help raise money for the College in the short-term.  To donate to the cause, please visit: http://www.gofundme.com/x97hy8.  Please encourage your friends and family to give to the cause.  If we fail in our effort to keep the College open, all donations will be returned to donors. Gifts at any size are welcome, and may also be anonymous. We have over $1,000 so far! 

 3.  Brainstorming: We've met together as groups to brainstorm about why we love the College so much and why it's a better value than any other College on the North Shore!  We've also thought of creative ideas to help the College enroll more students.  We are currently preparing a Memo for the Board of Trustees detailing many of these ideas, and would welcome your feedback.  If you'd like to participate, please feel welcome to join us Monday evening for another brainstorming session.  4.  Media:  Several of us have reached out to local media outlets and have already been interviewed. We will let you know if these stories go to press. 

 5.  Meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Trustees:  This week, on Tuesday night at 6:00pm, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Attorney Jim Burke, has invited all students, faculty, and staff to meet in the Mercy Center of the College to discuss constructive ideas about how to prevent the closing of the College. We are very grateful for the opportunity to speak with the College's leadership.  Please come and join us!

We understand the goal here is daunting and are not naive about the likely end game.  Nevertheless, we want to keep trying so long as there is hope the College will remain open.
