METZLER FOREST PRODUCTS NAMED FRA’S

APPALACHIAN REGION OUTSTANDING LOGGER

Last evening at Forest Resource Association’s (FRA’s) Fall Appalachian Regional meeting in Lewisburg, West Virginia, Metzler Forest Products, Reedsville, PA was awarded the 2023 Appalachian Outstanding Logger title.

“Metzler Forest Products is very deserving of this honor,” says Stephanie Phillips-Taggart, Executive Director of Keystone Wood Products Association (KWPA).

Metzler Forest Products (MFP) has grown from a one-man logging operation launched by Alan Metzler in 1986, into a dynamic full-service forest product company that offers contract chipping, timber harvesting, land clearing, transportation services, and mulch/landscape supplies.

Currently employing 90 people, MFP is headquartered in Reedsville with multiple chipping operations throughout the northeast. Owned by Alan Metzler and his wife Jill, MFP is guided by their sons—Nate, Logan, and Lucas.

“When I think of Metzler Forest Products, I think of professionalism, customer service, commitment, integrity, and deliverables. They truly are a blessing to the state and industry,” says Randy Shaffer, Director of Fiber Supply at Pixelle, who has worked with the family since 2008.

MFP was nominated by Keystone Wood Products Association and the Pennsylvania Forest Products Association to highlight the company’s exemplary commitment to the industry, community, environment, and its employees. As an industry leader, MFP is now in the running for FRA’s Outstanding Logger of the Year, which will be announced in May of 2024.

FRA’s award programs recognize outstanding independent logging contractor performance to increase the visibility of competent professional independent logging contractors within the forestry community and to encourage peers to emulate the outstanding performance of award winners.

Congratulations again to the Metzler team!
