Greetings!
It’s hard to believe that we are over 10 days into the new year. 2019 brings with it new challenges, as well as new opportunities for the Child Foundation. I am happy to report that as of January 1
st, Child Foundation has opened its newest office in Australia. Our presence is growing internationally, and our newest office will allow us to increase our funding to serve more children around the world. As part of our expansion, I am also happy to announce that we have now started our sponsorship program in Cambodia. We are delighted to expand our services to Cambodia and to help more children remain in school. By this time next year, I hope to report to you that we are helping more than 12,000 children.
Our work this year will also include more cooperation with local and international organizations of varying sizes in providing scholarships to our children. Given our decades of experience in this work, we are always happy to share our experience and resources with smaller foundations when it comes to marketing, financials, or general administration. Warm and Safe Classrooms for Sistani Children

Following the tragic incident on December 18
th
in the city of Zahedan, Iran, where a faulty heater in a classroom caught on fire and resulted in the death of four young girls, Child Foundation contacted local school authorities immediately to respond to the situation and to prevent a similar tragedy in the future. After extensive analysis and communication with authorities on the ground, Child Foundation is happy to announce its newest campaign project,
Warm and Safe Classrooms for Sistani Children
.
This campaign will raise funds to replace at least 200 heating systems and purchase 40 new Conex units for schools in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan. Every child deserves to obtain an education in a warm, safe environment in order to thrive and build a better future. As people celebrated the start of the New Year around the world, our team in Afghanistan were busy distributing food packages to families in need. Food packages included kitchen staples, such as 50 lbs bags of rice, dry pasta and legumes, and cooking oil. Staff on the ground worked day and night to make this large-scale food distribution possible, and we can’t thank them enough for their hard work.
In addition, as part of our coal campaign in the country, staff worked throughout December to make sure families were provided plenty of coal to stay warm during the harsh winter. If you wish to donate to our Coal Campaign, you can learn more

Sajjad
is a 7-year old student from Saravan, Iran, currently in the 2
nd
grade. He lives with his mother, grandmother, and other family members in one room of his aunt’s old house. His mother is the caretaker of the house. Sajjad's family do not have the necessary amenities or appliances to live comfortably. There is minimal furniture, and they do not have a heater or air conditioner. The family’s primary source of income are through government subsidized programs and charitable donations.
With your support, we can help make a bright and better future for Sajjad and fuel progress in his education.
After reviewing Sajjad’s talents, interest, and motivations and taking into consideration the financial needs of the family, Child Foundation has granted a

Litha Soeut
is a 7-year old student currently in the 7

grade. Her parents are farmers, and her family of six live in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Litha’s family struggle financially and are in a lot of debt. This makes buying necessary school supplies a challenge. Outside of school, Litha helps her mother with housework and taking care of her siblings. When she has free time, she enjoys playing soccer and reading books. When she grows up, Litha wants to become a Khmer literature teacher.
