The Choices We Make

Napa Valley CanDo seeks to inspire and facilitate action  by alerting interested Valley residents about opportunities for service. If you participate as a volunteer in an activity that you learned about through Napa Valley CanDo, whether initiated by CanDo or another organization, please take personal responsibility for your involvement. Use common sense. Only you can determine whether an activity is a good fit, that is to say  compatible with your interests and abilities.

HELP  SPREAD
THE  GOOD  WORD

It's here! The CanDo Spirit Award, part of Napa Valley CanDo's Give!Guide campaign, celebrates exceptional work performed by one young, full-time employee working in the Napa County nonprofit sector. The winner receives a $1000 cash prize sponsored by the  Napa Valley Vintners, a plaque, and wild applause at the Give!Guide's free public celebration this November.

EVERY nonprofit agency in Napa County, whether involved in the 2018 Give!Guide or not, is eligible to nominate one outstanding employee. Nominees must be age 30 or younger as of November 1, 2018. Full-time is defined as working at least 25 hours per week for one year.

Applications are available  here. There are two parts, one for the nominating Napa County nonprofit and one for the nominee. Due July 20.

If you know of a nonprofit doing great work, make sure they know about this fabulous way to honor a young employee.

DONE  WEEK  ONE:
DONE  AND DUSTED

That must be an Aussie term, but we all know what it means:  we're already into the second week of  Plastic Free July.

Did you take the challenge  to reduce single-use plastic on the excellent Plastic-Free July website?

Camille did. She said,
"I'm making my own yogurt! Buying Strauss milk in a glass container. Then you can turn them in at Whole Foods. Strauss milk in glass containers
is now sold at Safeway and Raley's, too."

and tell us what you'll give up this July
to help the Earth.
Write "Plastic Free" in the subject line.
