Captain Haddock came in as a stray. He was shy at first, but warmed up quickly and began demanding all the attention from our staff and volunteers.
He was overlooked for kittens for weeks, and began to feel lonely.
We gave him a feral kitten to look after, hoping it would cheer him up, and he might help the kitten come out of her shell. The next morning, this kitten had transformed from spicy to allowing pets and rubbing on us.
We decided the Captain had special magic, and gave him two more feral kittens.
What happened next is making our hearts melt.
He formed an extremely special bond with one of the kittens, and is allowing it to attempt to nurse him. They are obviously in love.
One of our staff members had decided to adopt Captain. When she learned he chose a kitten as his own, she agreed to adopt his kitten too!
The Captain will stay with us for a little bit longer so he can continue to love on these feral kittens. He is teaching them how to be friendly cats who love people, and we are so grateful for his help.
He will go home with his kitten later this week.
We love happy stories, and we hope this one makes your week!
