LEND  A  HAND
(OR  TWO)
AT  THE   NAPA FOOD  BANK  THIS SATURDAY  AM

From 9AM-noon, a parade of cars will find their way to the Food Bank. They'll be filled with green bags of donated groceries from generous neighbors all over Napa. In just three hours, we'll bring in nearly 12,000 pounds of food to help stock the shelves of seven Food Bank pantries across the county.

Help make it happen!

We need about ten more volunteers for 2-3 hours. It's fast, fun, and a great way to meet other folks who celebrate the strength of community and the CanDo Spirit.  Eight spots are reserved for students ages 12 and older.

  GARDEN  FOR  THE  FOOD  BANK

Neighbors Help Our Garden Grow.
Neighborhood School Kids Enjoy the Harvest.

Volunteer gardener Veronica displays a trombone squash.

Early last spring, a friendly gardener from the neighborhood stopped by
to give us some seedlings for
Zucchetta Trombolina, or "Trombone Squash."

We weren't sure what to expect.

Now at peak season, they are in their full glory,
and we see how they got their name.

Students from the school next door, Sunrise Montessori, had a great time picking, cooking, and eating them.

The kids agree: they're not just fun to look at,
but they're delicious to eat, too!

The Choices We Make

Napa Valley CanDo seeks to inspire and facilitate action  by alerting interested Valley residents about opportunities for service. If you participate as a volunteer in an activity that you learned about through Napa Valley CanDo, whether initiated by CanDo or another organization, please take personal responsibility for your involvement. Use common sense. Only you can determine whether an activity is a good fit, that is to say  compatible with your interests and abilities.
