John Whisnant joins Sanctuary House
as Director of Philanthropy

John has had a robust 30 year career working in vast areas central to relationship building. John served most recently as the Executive Director for the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden in Kernersville. Prior to that he served as the Development Officer at Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro where he worked diligently supporting community philanthropy including the renowned “Women to Women Endowment”.

Aside from his professional accomplishments, John has deep community roots, serving on various community, civic and church boards and committees. He has also been active in the campaign advisory boards of many local politicians, employing his marketing and business acumen in that arena.

He most recently served on the Board for the Women’s Resource Center, the Guilford Battleground Company, the Triad Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and is a Trustee for the SJ Edwards Foundation. Past board service includes Guilford Green Foundation, Bel Canto Company, Green Hill Center for NC Art and Mental Health Association-Greensboro.  Additionally, John is a Lifetime member of the Community Foundation’s Future Fund initiative and is a trustee to their Public Art Endowment.

It is an honor to have John join our team. He will be leading philanthropy endeavors with Development staff Mary Kate Brady-Farley.
