Helpful People for the New Year
Feng Shui tips, ideas, & simple habits you can add to your day & life
What or who are Helpful People?
"Helpful people can be mentors and teachers, thought leaders and life coaches, therapists and counselors, a yoga instructor or spiritual guru. They can be an angel or guide, deceased loved one or spirit animal, inner self or Higher Self. They can be a friend or family member, church or community member, customer or colleague.

"You can enhance this area to attract more helpful people into your life and create more opportunities to help others. This is one of the most important areas to enhance; life just works better when you have helpful people."
Since we talking about Helpful People (and Travel) gua, we thought it might be a great refresher to talk about how to lay the bagua and where Helpful People is actually located.

One of the Feng Shui core concepts is the bagua - and while some schools of Feng Shui may apply the bagua a bit differently or call a particular segment a slightly different name, we all agree on the concept of the 9 grids or life areas.
What do I do with a Bagua?
"Place the Bagua over the main level of your home, an individual room or your desk. The main entrance to your home or the room is always at the bottom as noted by the arrows on the color Bagua provided below so when you are standing facing your front door from the outside, your Wealth area is at the far left corner while your Partnership area is in the far right corner. Your front door, then, will usually be located in Knowledge, Career or Helpful People. Any attached structure with 4 walls and a roof (like a garage or screen porch) is included in the Bagua.

The Gift of Helpful People

Cultivating the Helpful People sector not only gives you a sense that you will manage life changing events but can also create: good timing to grasp opportunities right when they happen, increased synchronicity, find help when you falter, and confidently pursue your passions.

Dig deeper into the helpful people sector and why activating this area can benefit you. Bette also includes the very helpful tips and ideas if you have a missing corner or extension on your home in this area, as many of us do.
How to Make the Most of the Helpful People Area

"One thing to note about having helpful people in your life is that it’s important to be a helpful person, as well. If you’re interested in inviting more support into your life, you may want to consider how you can also offer support to others. In addition, you can think about how this connects to the communication aspect of the metal element. Are you practicing your communication skills by speaking clearly, asking for help when you need it, and truly listening?"
A simple and creative way to call in Helpful People to your circle. From Katie Rogers, Wind Horse School of Feng Shui

"Simply write down a description of the Helpful People you’d like to manifest in your life."

"It’s best done on red paper and in permanent ink. First light a candle with the intention of allowing the Helpful Person into your life. Get into a feeling place of “it is already done.” If you have a metal container, especially a round one, then place these Helpful People requests in there, happy that these people are coming. Then place the container in the Helpful People section of your home."
BONUS HELPFUL PEOPLE TIP for WEALTH: If your Wealth needs a boost, take a look at what’s going on in the opposite corner of your space, the Travel/Helpful People sector.
When you anchor healthy energy in Travel & Helpful People, you show that you understand this sector’s role in wealth-building activities:

  • travel that increases your opportunities
  • business networking
  • getting — and appreciating — high-quality help
  • “paying things forward”
  • paying back through philanthropy and volunteerism

Final Thoughts: Community and a Sense of Connection...
Sara and Stanley’s Big Adventure – How They Brought a Community Together

A personal story from Carolyn Ann Penn how two stray dogs helped her connect to her new community – and recognize the power of synchronicity, helpful people and connections...connecting her to her new community and new home.

"Recently, my husband and I uprooted our lives and belongings of 18 years in our home where we raised our two daughters. We closed our 23-year-old business. We moved to a new State about 1600 miles away where it is a completely different lifestyle and environment. When I got out of bed, I felt so heavy in my being. I felt disconnected. I longed for a sense of community that I had not felt in weeks. We moved to a place where we knew 3 people."
