Mercy Hospital treats the young and the old
|
Five-year-old Jerome was desperately sick when his mother brought him to Mercy suffering from a range of symptoms including severe anemia, high fever, vomiting and coughing. The Mercy staff diagnosed Jerome with malaria and an acute respiratory infection and he was admitted for treatment. After three days of intensive care and a blood transfusion, Jerome was stable enough to go home.
His mother was so happy to learn that the treatment was entirely free, as the family had no money to pay, and effusively thanked the staff for their kindness and compassion. “I am very grateful for the services given to my son. I want to thank the CHO and nurses that helped him when he was sick.”

Child Rescue Centre expands to Manguama and Pujehun villages
|
The Child Rescue Centre has expanded its vision to serve children and families who live in the villages of Manguama and Pujehun.
Last month, children from these two villages were enrolled in the Child Support Program so they can begin receiving support for their education. Both underdeveloped and politically marginalized, these small villages suffer from extreme poverty, lack of services and inaccessibility.
Manguama is one of the villages served by Mercy Hospital outreach.

Ready for school in Pujehun village!
|
CRC Director Mohamed Nabieu spoke to the new vision to expand to the villages. “We are not only to focus on our comfortable zones, but if we want to make meaningful impact, we have to be ready to reach out to the unreached, speak out for the voiceless and help the underprivileged,” he said.

It's not too late! Share the light of Christmas with Child Rescue Centre students
|
All 600 of the children enrolled in the Child Rescue Centre are invited to participate in a festive Christmas celebration again this year. The party will feature a special meal, Nativity play enacted by CRC students, singing, dancing and the chance to make new friends and reconnect with old ones.
Many of the CRC students are from Muslim families, and the party is a wonderful opportunity for them to hear the gospel message. Each of the kids will receive a solar lantern and goodies to share with their family.

A prayer for education
Great Teacher, children need an education to have the full and abundant life You came to give them. Your Word demonstrates how You touch people’s hearts to spur them to action for their own benefit. Bless people living in poverty by providing ways to learn to read and to apply this new skill to help lift their families out of poverty — for this generation and generations to come.
Faithful Shepherd, help parents understand the value of their children’s education. May parents and other family members surround children with the support and encouragement to become all who You desire them to be. If economic support is an issue, may parents find additional means of income to provide for their family.
Great Provider, we know You created children with a curiosity to learn about their world. Give every girl and boy the chance to explore the world through their studies. We ask You to raise up godly leaders who will change the way girls and women are treated, opening the possibility for fuller lives and futures filled with promise.
